Hybrid Intake Install. differences between 95 and 96

Hey, I finished making a Hybrid Intake last weekend, along with FameMax. Sounds great, definatly got lowend power back. I have a few pictures before and after... but my biggest question is whats with the Resonator difference between our cars... 95 vs 96 SE's. I have an extra box and hose attached, and where they attached to the intake scoop, Mike, (FameMax, 96 SE) has a plug called a "boost" sensor. I have pics of both. Anyone know?? thanks... enjoy the pictures and my dirty, dirty engine... I did clean it since then.

Re: Hybrid Intake Install. differences between 95 and 96

I think the boost sensor must have something to do with the emission and the intake amount or something, can't think of anything else, well i dont think its for my turbo , so i wonder if this is the reason why there is a myth about the 95 maxima vs all other, would of love to compair a 97-99 engine

That's really interesting. I've looked at many different engine bays and never noticed that. I'd be curious to know if his stock intake sounded different than your stock intake. It's been my impression that the box is a resonator and is used to tune the sound of the incomming air. The 96's box doesn't just have a cap over where the hose and additional box would attach does it? I assume you'd post that but I had to ask. That looks like the new and improved $15 intake - is it? You feel like you have low end back? I have the original $15 intake and like it but have been considering improving it.

no cap over anything, b/c there is no hole at all, but where the blot that the box goes to on the 95 SE, on the 96 , it is replaced by a plug, and yes $15 intakes, the new and improved, it works great

definatly worth the effort. i have a larger filter than any other max ive driven in. mine sounded a little deeper than others, but they were 96's. Maybe my car sounded more mellow before?? either way i love the sound both before and after the hybrid intake. anyone else have any ideas about the underhood differences??

I have a 95se, and also have that extra box that seems to be doing nothin, and its a coincidense because I have been wondering what that box was doin there. Looks to me as if its just takin up space, and "ugliying up" our engine bay...

yup and its only the 95, now no one would like to get down to the possible reason why 95s or 96s r fasters ( b/c we all know they are )

yeah, it's because of that magical horsepower box. hehe It adds like 10 hp to the wheels I hear.

its gotta be an extra resonator of some sort... maybe it adds a little power off the line with stock box... maybe its just to quiet it down more.

Hm...possibly, but all its really doin is resticting air flow....but Nissan probably intended it to reduce the noise...

Where do I get that hybrid thingy?

I already have a popcharger, and I want my low end back.
Where did you get that resonator section or whatever it is that got replaced with the metal part?
Thanks
