Basic N2O question

Ok, I'm almost positive I'm going to leave the N/A community and go the n20 route but I want to do this as safely and as efficiently as possible.

Im thinking about purchasing a used 5124 kit from another member, 3 bottles run through, all lines intact, pretty solid deal. In fact, here is the link:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?threadid=172005

I have an automatic transmission with Don's VB and the Hayden 403 tranny cooler. I'm about to acquire a stock 96 Auto ECU to replace my JWT ECU. What else do I need?

My short list includes and I'm not sure on these:

1. 1 step colder plugs
2. Walboro Fuel Pump
3. FPR (I have no idea what this is or where I would get one)
4. Bottle heater (included in deal w/member)
5. N20 pressure gauge (also included)

Am I set?

Obviously, I'm new to this and I dont want to start with a high shot, infact I would like to start low so I can gain a better understanding of it all.

My goal in this setup is to provide substantial gains while not breaking the bank. I also am not trying to acheive the showtime setup as far as gauges, gauge pods, and the like go.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

For a small shot (~50) you don't need the new fuel pump or FPR. However, most people knowing that they are going to go higher soon after they get the 50 shot working properly, install the pump and FPR right from the start. I did.

For more than a 50 shot some guages are a must. You really should get an EGT and FP guage. Otherwise you'll never know if you're getting the most out of your nitrous or if your having problems.

Also, a window swicth is another good thing to have, but you don't need it for an auto. Better safe than sorry though.

Interesting. So if I was planning to run a lower shot such as a 50 like I am. I wouldnt need an FPR or a high flow fuel pump but I should probably invest in an EGT and a FP gauge so if the stock pump were to go, at least I would know.

Do I need to run colder plugs if I'm running a small shot?

If you plan on running even over a 60 shot you should invest in a new fuel pump and FPR.

You should get at least EGT and FP gauge. Since you are auto, I would also consider a transmission temp gauge. The A/F gauge is useless unless you are running a seperate o2 sensor for it.

Yes, you will need to run colder plugs.

A bottle heater is a must. Keeping proper bottle pressure can be the difference of running consistent times.

You will also need a Nitrous pressure gauge as to have to monitor what pressure it is at.

Also consider a blow down tube so the bottle doesn't explode if there is too much bottle pressure.

Don't forget a window switch. I used a MSD window switch that i sent to have it modified for 1 cylinder application. You need to have it set for 1 cylinder application since the Maxima uses individual coil packs. The NOS window switch doesn't need to be modified but it also twice as expensive as the MSD.

People always argue if Plat is really needed or not. Some people run Plat. while some others run Copper. I have ran both. I personally went with NGK Plat. You can get these plugs from Auto Part stores.
