how do you wire a "spray" switch?

i dont have a window switch with my set up (too expensive right now) so all i have is an activation switch, then when i go WOT, the nitrous will spray.

With this set up i cant go WOT in 1st and 2nd because i will just burn out, that means if i activate the nitrous i would have to be gentle in 1st/2nd gear...

my question is, how do you go about wirring a second switch, so i can activate the nitrous, go WOT in 1st and 2nd (N/A) then when i shift into 3rd, press another switch to spray the rest of the way?

or is it easier to just turn on the activation switch in 3rd gear and hope it sprays? last time i tried it at the track (but in 2nd) nothing happened... maybe i needed to purge that run?

You can wire a momentary push button switch INLINE with the arming switch. That's what I did. So basically when you hold down the push button switch, the circuit is completed and it will spray.

Do you kno where to buy those little red push switch's that you find on the steering wheel, but you can mount them somewhere else?

SummitRacing.Com or Jegs.Com would have them. Just search for "momentary switch".

I did exactly what CalsonicSE said, wire it in series with the arming switch. I used a motorcross kill switch and a timex velcro watch band. Also a 2 wire trailer plug so I can remove it.

It is mounted on the left side of the steering wheel on the cross bar, so I can still do stuff with my right hand, like shift if I want to etc. Pretty easy to steer and hold the button down at the same time and it gives you maximum control.

Why don't you just activate in 3rd gear instead of wiring a F&F switch? You just got a purge valve didn't you? Just purge, nail 1st and 2nd, when you shift to 3rd....activate. It's not that difficult really.

If your system does not come on when you are at WOT in ANY gear when YOU hit the activation switch, there's something wrong. It's simpler IMO than doing the F&F switch. That switch should be left for the more experienced nitrous user, not taking anything away from you, who knows his car/system and can push the button at the right time. Remember, if you wire a push button activation switch, you WILL spray anytime you press the button. If you are at low RPM or bouncing off the limiter and you decide to spray, you WILL do damage to your engine.

Jaime the spray button is just hooked in series with the activation switch so the activation switch has to be on and the WOT switch has to be activated before it will spray with that button. It does not bypass the WOT switch. It actually adds an additonal step but if its on the steering wheel its saves having to reach for a switch.

I would not suggest anyone bypass the WOT switch, even though I do it myself.

So you are basically wiring it, not in lieu of the activation but as an additional inline on/off momentary switch??? When wired that way, does the "standard" activation NOT take place until you press the momentary????

Exactly. It just allows you to control when you want it on from the steering wheel vs having to reach and hit the activation switch, which has to be on anyway for the on/off momentary switch to work.

When they are in series they all have to be on before it completes the circuit.

Then I retract my previous statement. Thank you for the clarification. If wired and installed as you detailed, that would be the easiest and best way to achieve what toylet was after.
