Nitrous with auto tranny...

The VG auto trannies are notoriously horrendous, but I'm curious as to if judicious use of nitrous would effect it's lifetime or not. Most of what I have read about auto tranny failures is related to clutch bands slipping, tranny overheating, and some small part breaking. These breakdowns are usually from shifting under excessive load or too much shifting. Now if I was to run nitrous and spray from 2500-5500, but let off before it was time for the tranny to do its thing, I would theoretically be sending the transmission the same load to shift as a stock car. Thus, no extra load would be put on the tranny during shifting. My question is if a transmission can be killed just by sending too much power through it while it is in one gear?

in the 1/4 mile you will not likely see 4th gear any how so you only have to consider the way you drive from 1st to 2nd to third...

and although some people (me included) spray out of the hole...most dont go beneath 3000 rpms before they hit it.

the estimated power each gear can handle safely is determined only by how long it takes you to replace it when it fails...the autu tranny is such a fickle beast anyhow...cause the fluid level and computer controls are so picky.

any tranny that is forced to put out a lot will develop issues...hands down and widely known...common sense dictates that...and yes the stress is relieved by shifting.
