Question About Refilling Bottle

I just got my bottle refilled. The guy at the place emptied out my nitrous bottle completely by opening the valve and letting it all out (I only had like 200-300 psi left in the bottle anyways). Then he refilled it completely.

I was wondering is this normal? Or do other places leave whats in there and refill it?

This place here in SoCal charged me $2.95 for a lb of nitrous. Other places I called either don't have any anymore or charge $4.

Yes, it's normal. The 200-300 psi left in the bottle at the time was most likely all compressed air - very little, if any, nitrous left. You if are wary next time go you get a fillup, tell them to weigh the bottle beforehand.

So say if I only have a half empty bottle would the guy empty it out first or just refill it with whats inside?

The guy would slowly release some of the compressed air that's left inside and then refill it with the nitrous that's left inside.

Like Calsonic said this is normal. You can also do this yourself, just make sure there is noone in front of the valve when you open it.

Also, make sure your bottle is nice and cool when you go to get it refilled. This will ensure a better refill then if it were warm due to the pressure.
