Blew the welds on my radiator
Hey guys,
I've only had my NX wet kit on my car for no more than two weeks and blew something already. I'm running a 75 shot and for some reason or another I blew my radiator. Here's what happened:
Last night I was coming home from work and decided to spray for 5 seconds or so. My engine was warm and bottle pressure was normal. I spray for no more than 5 seconds and disarm my kit. I drive up my driveway and take somethings to the house. On my way back I notice a little smoke coming from my engine bay. I look a little closer and the smoke went away.
I started up the engine and it was idling at 1000rpm and steadily dropped to 750rpm. I did notice that the radiator fans were churning full speed and never stopped.
I get out of the car and walk away and look back to a gushing radiator with coolant spilling onto my driveway. I get back in the car and move it to the front of my house. I did this to avoid my car blocking two other cars I have access to in case my max doesn't work in the morn.
I then proceeded to call my boy and tell him what happened. He tells me to bring the car to him and he will check it in the shop the next morn. Well, here is the verdict so far.
Blow and punctured radiator. There was a loose driver from a universal socket tool. Apparently it has been playing with the fins of the fan and shot it right into my radiator a few times. They are replacing my radiator tomorrow and running full compression checks. Hopefully the engine doesn't hydrolock.
Thing that I do not get is... A/F was fine, EGT was fine. I guess it was coincidence that when i sprayed, my radiator decided it would blow.
Any ideas?
Sorry for the long post

thats total coincidence. nitrous doesnt make your radiator fans spin faster.
also, you might want to look into a nice little tray or rack to organize your tools so that if you are missing a socket after working on your car you will notice and go back and make sure it isnt about to cost you some $$

someone please enlight me - what is engine "hydrolock "
as for the gushing radiator - it could be stock relief valve in the pressure cap not letting the excess coolant from the system to expansion tank resulting in overflow
