Auto VS Stick

I am wondering if an auto is faster on the highway while spraying assuming both cars are setup the same?

I think on the highway it would be the 5spd. Just from a stop the auto is significatly faster because of the gearing of 1st. From where on the 5spd is on the ball.

AHH. this is my favorite topic. auto will win . and on the highway it gets worse. from a take off the five speed rules but as the gears change the auto will have an advantage, that is if your setup is right. i have a auto
and i will bet on me anyday and i do. any bets. i will be attending the car meet sun in L.I. IF ANYONES INTERESTED....

I don't agree a 5 speed rules from a take off either, there has not been one 5 speed or auto for that matter of any HP that has beaten my 60' time.

Plus you are right on the highway too, much taller gears, but I would be afraid to pump it too long in 4th. Probably try to get as much as possible N/A then try it for 10 secs or so just to see, wanna have a long straight stretch though for that speed.

a 5 speed puts down about 20 more hp then a auto to the wheels...top end is about hp not tourque...

If its the same setup, same shot, 5 speed win from a 45 + mph roll

amen! but its hard to convince a non fast auto max that this is true.
i think we can relate very well because your numbers reflect exactly that. my car was built to win period. thats why i picked a auto.

I have to say I've pulled away from sticks on the highway, but they're not set up evenly. I have had a few 5spds walk me for a car length out of the hole, then they just get reeled in and eaten up. I still think my problem is being afraid of wheel spin. I am still trying to find the limits without going up in smoke. I also can't launch from more than 2200 rpm either. The stick can burn a little clutch, and make more power early. I still think the auto leaves less room for error, and shifts faster in the higher gears. Especially with a VB upgrade.
