Where would a Zex kit take a 16.6.
Where would a Zex kit take a 16.6.
I have just bought a stock 1996 I30 automatic is only runs a 16.6 at 82. I have a ZEX kit/ FP gauge from another project. I also have some extra jets that range from 55 to 150 shot.If I installed them then slowly worked my way up untill I maxed out something (FP, FPR,Inj.,etc,etc). What time do you think I would get? I don't want to waste my time and money if I can't get atleast 13's. I'll just put the kit back into my 280zx Turbo.
Thanks
Jason
Thanks

check my sig...these are what it takes to get to 13's with 50 shot. With the 80 shot that I am running now, and the other mods I have lined up for the next two weeks, I should be under 13.3. Good luck.

Jime is the most extreme example to compare with. He shaved 1.5 with a 35 shot ON slicks and a 1.8 60'. You will have to do a burnout, and spray out of the hole to get anywhere close to 1.8s. I think Jime shaved 2 full seconds with his 50-75 shot. That put him in the mid/high 12s.
But 13s? umm I don't know. If you gut your car, do some simple mods to get you running mid 15s, then 13s are possible WITH slicks and spraying a 75 shot out of the hole. But to go from 16.6 to 13.9, I don't think you'll do it without some breathing mods and losing a good amount of weight. Well, you can with a 100 shot maybe. But I doubt your fuel system is setup for your Zex dry shot of over 50.
Thanks for posting replys. I'm thinking that since I can't get Clear coners I will at more HP with a pair of Cefiro headlights. Then I should be deep into the 15's
Know really I thinking of getting a K&N panel filter and a aftermarket mid pipe. I Also plain on getting a Y-pipe and a Apexi Turbo N1 welded to the B-pipe . This would keep the factory pre-muffler and hopfull keep things fairly quite. On my 92SE I have a similar set-up: stock y-pipe,stock cat,new 2.5 until a Turbo N1(No resinator). It's not that loud at all and sounds really good to. But I would not want an automatic car to be this loud, therefor I would like to keep the factory pre-muffler.
I think that these few mod will allow for the motor to breath better.
Other mods:
Adjustable FPR (if needed)
Drop resistor mod
Fuel pump 190 high flow (when needed)
Exhasut cut-out on y-pipe (if needed)

i was wondering why he was running a 16.6...i ran a 16.53 but i was at 5000ft and i had mods...i dont know how accurate those correction calculators are but it told me i would run a 15.2 at or around sea level
Those correction calculators are only accurate IF you know how to calculate it. You can't just simply take the elevation and then run the numbers. You have to add in ALL weather and track conditions.
yeah i had all the weather conditions for the nights i ran at the track and there was no bad weather and the track i ran at was like 20 minutes away from where i live, i dont remember them now i had them written down some where..
