Had some fun at the track tonight ( 1/8 )

Almost did not get to run due to rain, Temp was 89F and 87% humidity.

My time was

60 ft... 1.856
330ft... 5.457
1/8 ET... 8.488 @ 83.6 Mph

I loved this run because i ran a newer Altima V6 , with 5 speed intake and exhaust. Guy seemed really preppy and cocky. He was about my age ( 21 ) and talking on his cell phone, he was talking loud enough for me to hear him say.. " Im about to run against an old school maxima, let me call u back after i smoke him."

To bad for the guy his 9.7 couldn’t touch my 8.4

I think even with this weather i could have broke low 8s maybe high 7s becuase after this run i checked my bottle pressure and i wasent even in the yellow. So not only was i fighting humidity, but bottle pressure too.

Its hard to say with my bottle pressure issue, you can have the jets in for a 50 shot, but with no pressure its like u have the 35 shot it ? ¿ ? I donno

I was sitting here wondering how the hell you pulled that time on only a 50-shot and then I saw your 60'. You got slicks right?

I agree 100% with what Jime says.

"There is really no point going to the track if you dont have slicks."

meh, if it's out-and-out drag racing you're after the same logic would dictate using the Maxima to tow your dedicated drag vehicle.

otherwise there's an appeal to driving up, putting down a good #, and driving off. even the ndra (think that's the one) has a street tire category.

It was just my opinion; ive ran at the track for many years on street tires. Ive been frustrated every time ive went, weather it was traction issues or putting down times i know my car could do better. THE APPEAL is racing with slicks, its the most amazing feeling in the world, im not wasting my money to go to the track unless im putting down the best times i can, i'll leave the street tires for the street. It dosent kill me to take 10 min to change out my tires to slicks..but everyone is diffrent

I change front and rear plus my muffler and it only takes 20 mins. But really you will never know what your car can do until you try slicks.

We have a king of the street class now and I plan on running that and then swapping tires for the regular class race.

btw, what is the definition of a "street" tire - just one that's DOT approved? So everyone runs radials in a street class I would guess.

I think I'd rather invest in a tranny swap with an lsd first than a pair of smaller rims and slicks. I wonder what the drop in times would be with 2 street tires putting power down over a slick? Or 2 slicks over one?

Definition of street tire is different depending on who makes the rules. For our king of the street, it has to be an actual street tire, drag radials are not allowed.

Also I have run 2 Maxima's with LSD and now one without and there was no change in 60' time so I am not a believer in LSD for the strip. All 3 of them ran a 1.7x 60'.

I let ejj use my slicks one day and he had never boken 14 before and he ran a 13.6x with them so they do make a huge difference.
