Buying USED ZEX #82011???

Any advice? Good dry kit?

Besides the NMU(brain), bottle/brackets, and braided line, what else is a must have?

TIA!

the fogger nozzle and the jet sizes for that kit, also might need to upgrade fuel pump since thats a dry kit and you can buy accessroies like bottle heater, purge..

It supposedly comes with 50, 75, 100-shot nozzles and a purge.

Definitely going to get a window switch, bottle opener, and heater.

Ya then it sounds like the Kit comes with everything it has, just make sure the NMU brain works... that cost $275 from zex if its broken.

There is no such thing as a GOOD dry kit, thats an oxymoron.
I don't have anything against ZEX, their wet kits are probably ok but this is whats in that pretty purple box, not the most expensive components in the world.

I like my Zex wet, and haven't had any issues with it yet. When I start to, then I'll look into something else. Maybe an NX kit, but I like it for now. As long as you have enough fuel pressure from the pump, and your plugs are cold enough, you should be fine. Looks like the kit has everything you need. Good luck with it, what shot are you planning on going with?

Jime,

I understand your against dry kits and for your purposes why, however for my application, ie small shot <100, composite material intake, backfire prone VIAS chamber, etc., I'm hoping it will do the job with the least risk.

Can you explain how this "smart shot" works?

I'm a NX fan from the propaganda, however this kit is local, lightly used, and DIRT cheap.

I'd start at 55-shot, move to a 75-shot, upgrade the fuel pump and run a 100-shot max eventually. Looking at a 75-shot for now.

If I understand correctly, the "smart shot" is just a way of making the pressure to the fuel pressure regulator, ie fuel pressure increase, proportional to N20 bottle pressure.

So, if your bottle pressure is low, you'll have a smaller shot with less fuel pressure, but if it's high, you'll have a larger shot with higher fuel pressure.

Any risk in this method?

Jime,

If you were FORCED to choose out of these two dry kits, which would you pick and why?

1)ZEX #82011
or
2)NOS #5124

Hey Alex I would probably pick the NOS but only because I have had one. I did one Zex install and I think they are probably better than NOS.

Really though even though you have a composite intake I would still go wet. I have never had a hint of a backfire and as long as you do a good install and setup I just can't see it happening. I have read about them but never knew anyone who had a backfire.

About the smart shot I'm not really sure because I haven't really spent any time looking at their system but I think its just a nitrous pressure sensing setup that increases and decreases fuel pressure to compensate.

If I had your setup I would go wet, you could have a backfire but you couild get hit by lightning too.

Thanks Jim.

My two concerns with wet(probably just ****):
1)Fuel + plastic manifold
2)VIAS chamber is a huge area for puddling to occur plus above 5K all intake runners are connected/sharing the VIAS chamber, so in theory that could lead to a backfire.

Well if you do go wet go NX their nozzles are the best are far as smallest particles. I saw a demo a couple of years ago and it may be called wet but just looks like a vapor. Of course if held long enough it will precipitate. However like me someone has to be the test bed and everyone told me a couple of years ago that dry was the only way to go on a Max and I proved that theory wrong.

Its your turn.

The best thing about the Zex kits are their component containment and their TPS interface.

I already bought it, but thanks anyways.

Now I just need to replace a few parts and buy some others I need to feel reasonably safe before install.

Alex you pu$$. Convert that bad boy to a wet kit. . Seriously though i thought i heard somewhere that the 5th gen manifold is less likely to backfire than the mevi

BTW got your check today and will mail the ecu monday.

I've got bigger injectors to add all the fuel I need.

I'm not sure about the MEVI vs. DEK being more backfire prone, however I'm not going to be the one to find out.

I now retract my previous statement about the zex dry kit. I am picking up one today from a local guy. Can't beat that
