maxima-mizing my new nitrous kit
maxima-mizing my new nitrous kit
i just picked up the nx wet kit everyone talks about, it wont be installed for anothe r3months or so, which is sad but not much i can do about. but that gets me plenty of time to get everything else i need. nitrous related that is.
so far.
the kit itself
255 fuel pump and new filter and all seals
properly maintained max
wideband
in the mail
emange ultimate
what else should and what brand would u suggest? and where to get it online or over the phone. im plan on a 75 shot
bottle heater
remote opener
purge
plugs, what step/stage cooler without loosing drivability
ive heard of some controller that can cut the nitrous if i lean out, any info on that.
what else can i need/want/should get to make my first nitrous kit complete. thanks everyone

Well if your getting a wideband you can use the reading from the wideband a/f to a device that shuts down nitrous if you run too lean or rich depending on what a/f you set it too. you can accomplish this by getting a Nitrous Express Maximizer. it does everything, rpm switch, TPS switch, shutdown nitrous with lean a/f. bunch of other things, look into it.
also you want to go with two step colder plugs, NGK.
for 75shot you really dont need the 255 pump but since u got it already you might need a an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and set it to stock fuel pressure.

im gonan need to save for a few more weeks.
am i gonna loose any drivability with two step colder plugs?
and ive looked at fpr's am i really gonna need an $$$ one, ive seent them really up there, anyone have a recommendation on a good one for not too much.
do i really need a purge? seem smuch more show than go?

you can get a fpr from ebay prob for less than 70 or so...
with two step colder I didnt notice a difference, but if it does slow me down, i rather run the 2step plugs than risk overheating while spraying.
for the purge, no you dont need a purge urgently. you defenetly need a bottle warmer. Dynotune makes a great one for 120, u can get it at ebay or at the dynoetune org website. its automatic so u set it at a set pressure and dont have to worry about it. you also MUST get a nitrous pressure gauge. but the purge is not really that needed for 75shot. if u go up in the 100shot then i would recommend u purge before u spray.
purge is basically to remove the air from the nitrous line so wen you spray you dont get a lil lag before the nitrous goes into line (fractions of seconds). to some people thats important at the track cuz every .01 second counts to them. its up to yo.

as far as guages go, i have all autometer ultralites, would the nitrous guage they offer be acceptable. i really would like it to match all my others. also i assume u mean for the pressure, is there a guage for level as well, again i would love the guages to mathc but if not not a biggy on that one, casue itd prob be more hidden.
what i plan on doing is mounting the guages in the middle air vents, i have a 00 so theyll fit, i did soem testing. i normally keep them closed so u wouldnt even see them.but when im ready to run, flip them open.
i looked into the maximizer, man is that thing $$$, do i really need it. i have afull wideband being insatlled at the same time, so do i really need it. please just tell me its the best thing out there and i wont need anything else. this spray thing is getting expensive. and would any of my emange ultimate features be of any use. i need them to play together.

the maximizer is the best thing if you have the money, it does everything you need for a nitrous system SPECIALLY since ur putting a wideband. you said you wantd something that will shut down nitrous if you go real lean and thats it.
also theres no gauge that tells you the level of the bottle as it is not possible to measure that only by weighing the bottle on a scale. Yes the autometer nitrous pressure gauge will work. I dont have experience with the emanage but I dont think it can offer alot of things for nitrous, but i dont kno anything bout it basically.
As far as spending money on nitrous, you either spend money on all the things you need to keep your nitrous running good and safe or spend money on a new motor when you blow urs. Some people just throw on a nitrous kit and call it a day. You gotta do things the right way, this is a major power adder just like turbo or supercharging.

thanks thats all i needed to know, im not cheap with my cars in anyway, but it sounds like im gonna put nearly a grand into making this all work the way its supposed to. hmmm. i can handle that. would id be the smart thing to just wait til i had everyhting to install, or could I simply install the basic kit and add the maximizer later?
also i saw that theres a maximizer and a maximizer2, is there a big difference?

Wel im not sure of the difference between the two, i assume the 2nd version has more features, but also might be more expensive. I say you start installing things now, at least the hardware part of it like cutting in the fuel, mounting the solonoids, running nitrous line, drilling intake for nozzle, then leave the eletrical for when you get the maximizer. You might also want to speak with Jime on here, he can give u some advice with the maximzer.
