Good Exaust Piping Size for Nitrous

I was wanting to know what would be a good size piping for my exaust system with future plans for a 50-75 shot of nitrous...ive heard that the exaust piping needs to be enlarged for better exaust flow with nitrous and plus its time to replace my pipes on my cat-back system?

Agreed 2.5 system should do nicely.

Agree w/ the above opinions.

Question for you though: Do you have headers yet? If not, that should be your main concern first.

Full headers and 3" pipe works OK for me, for a dual-stage 150-shot ....

3" catback - warpspeed..

Custom OBX headers w/3" cutout:

Why not just get basic 2.5 piping, and put a cutout right at the ypipe collector? even n/a i gained 7hp from opening it, with nitrous, well its a given youll get alot of power down.

Feel? just fine, I guess.. I've had the 3" system with Y-pipe for about 3 years now. It went to Maxus 2005 and 2006, and went to various drag strips as well.

It has a deeper throatier sound than other systems I've heard. Now, with the headers, the sound is - well - like it's got headers...

can you run nitrous with stock headers and exhaust? i would def upgrade my plugs, but can I run it w/o upgrading exhaust size & headers? I love the sound of an aftermarket exhaust, but the attention it draws is not my favorite

Yes, you will get better gains with a better free flowing exaust. But if your wondering if it will cause problems...no it wont...

I never noticed any - after I updated the torge converter with a 2800-stall EDGE, it takes more rpms to move the car from a stop with normal driving, but you would expect that.

When idleing, you can feel with your hand each exhaust pulse pop out of the exhaust tip. Free flow, baby! I read about this obsession with low-end torque and big exhausts, but I don't have it, I guess. But I race the car, so maybe I'm prejudiced..... The 3" system was just fine for normal driving befoe headers - after. it's even better.
