i have a 2001 SE 5-speed i just got a nitrous kit off my friends only gonna run a 50 shot for now street use and a 75 track and dyno... with either of those should i buy new spark plugs? I read about people using copper spark plugs. also what should i adjust my timing to??

 

Stock timing and 1 step colder copper plugs for 50 and 75 shot.

 

would ngk iridium be ok for nitrous?

 

Don't use iridium plugs. Always go copper with nitrous.

 

I have used NGK Iridium plugs with nitrous for the last 3 years.

What is your experience with them?

 

Just have heard from guys at the track that run huuuuuge shots to not run iridium plugs.

I never used an iridium plug in my camaro and it ran perfect on the spray and never burned a plug.
Don't have any experience with them myself though.

Ya, a lot longer. Mine are 2 steps colder and I run them N/A as well because I am too lazy to swap them all the time and I ran my record N/A time with them. Have also ran a 200 shot with no problem.

 

Not 100% sure, but the iridium plugs get hotter. The tips can burn off easier.

The fastest maxima is using iriduims, so they must work.

 

I've melted tips off of several iridium plugs in my 3.0 - that's why I quit using them.. looked like melting candles. Dunno why, either, although the ground straps would sometimes be damaged. After I went to cutting back the ground straps and used copper-core plugs, the plug problems were much less. Still can't run too lean, though.

 

So, what was it like running the Lincoln on that much nitrous???

 

I've run iridiums the last two years, no problems at all. Just have to keep any eye on the like any other spark plug when using nitrous.. It's all personal prefrence though. Either way good luck..
