2003 maxima Auto - Nitrous Questions.

First thing first.
want to do a 75 shot.
just did tranny service / wired DR to a switch
want to keep price at 400$ (prob a used kit)

1. I keep reading that you do not need to change the plugs if you have ngk's ?
2. I am tuned with a safc n/a 13.1 afr, any problems with this?
3. I will most likely only run this kit at the track, so do I need to get a tune for it?

4. Where the hell is the Install for an auto 2003 maxima!!!!!!

Thats all.

1. You need to change the plugs if you have platinum plugs. Use either copper or iridium. I would recommend one step colder for a 75 shot. ie 6's vs the stock 5's.

2. Just use the recommended jet sizes and your a/f will be ok, it will drop to around 12 or so if you are currently at 13:1 at WOT.

3. I ran for 3 or 4 years with no tune or w/b so you should be safe. The nitrous folks jet a bit on the rich side to make sure your safe.

4. Just use the generic install instructions, they don't usually have vehicle specific instructions because of the similarity.

Good Luck.

1. I would go with one step colder copper plugs.
2. It doesn't matter what you are tuned to n/a. A wet kit adds its own fuel and therefore you can tune it to whatever a/f you want.
3. I would recommend having someone that knows nitrous tune the car.
4. There is not gonna be specific instructions to install the kit. Nitrous installs are very easy though. Generic instructions will get the job done.

Platinum are the stock plugs and they can't handle nitrous, you can run copper or iridium for nitrous and no they won't affect N/A power. I use iridium 2 step colder for both N/A and spray.

I have thought about this as well...

And does anybody have the part # for the plugs..?

What is the big difference between copper and iridium when it comes to running nitrous?

Price, iridiums last a long time like the plats but are much more expensive than copper plugs.

Okay So I will be shooting for middle of June for this To be done.

Jime you stated that you did not run a A/f guage for several years? I will most likely not run one either.

Also, is there really a need for a bottle warmer? or as long as I have good Pressure I am fine?

Which kit do you think would suit me best, and how did your Auto tranny react to it, as I recall reading that you sprayed your vq35?

Will I be okay with just the DR mod and fresh fluid in her? I do beat her Up a bit....

Sorry for all the questions I just like Every angle on a situation, an you are the king for Spray.

I also ran for a few years without a bottle warmer but they are nice to have. As long as the pressure is close to 1k you are ok, if its much less you will just run rich.

NX are the best, lifetime warranty on the solenoids and they will rebuild them for free.

The DR mod and fresh fluid should be good, however lots of guys wreck their trans without juice so be warned. Mine has taken a 200 shot of spray a few times with no ill effects.

Get the warmer, get 1step colder plugs NGK Copper. You should be fine, get an NX kit like Jime is saying. its my favorite, specially for the lifetime solenoid warranty, you can buy a used NX kit and send the solenoids to get freshened up for free. The auto shouldnt have an issue with DR and new fluid, make very sure you have a cooler in there too, its a must. Dont ever spray while the car is downshifting, for example your cruising at 40, you floor it, the WOT switch activates the nitrous, then the car starts downshifting into 2nd. It only takes one or two times for that single mess up to fry your tranny. Always spray when the tranny is in gear.

Matt. The guy with the slammed black 4th gen. He's been spraying fred's old motor for years now. 75 shots on up. He can install everything for you and he can educate you first hand on everything. Everyone here is giving good advice, but its better when you can physically see what is being talked about.

EDIT: I dont think you know who's motor i'm talking about. It's this same motor that was put together in '04.

It's running stronger than ever now.

Lol. yea. That motor runs harder now than it's ever ran. And thats jonathan that bought Eddy's max. The car is currently down with a broken tranny. Yup, 150 shot if i'm not mistaken. 3.5's absolutely love big shots. They swallow it up and keep going.

We're in Palm beach by the way.

what you mean by sketchy? You do know the fastest maxima in the world has a stock transmission with just drop resistor, cooler right? dont know whats sketchy about something thats been proven for many years.

YOu can activate in second..check out the zex rpm window...about $150 on ebay all day...you can find one for $100. If you are worried about n/a power when not spraying...get the NGK iridium IXs one step colder. They cost about $8 a piece though...but from testing and dyno runs they outperform a large selection of plugs and are safe for nitrous.

By far the best advice ever, spraying during a down shift will send your tranny temp thru the roof and fry the fluid and clutches no matter how big your cooler is.

btw if you have a 3.0 I would just go with ngk copper plugs for the price since you'll be pulling them form time to time anyway to read them. Although I have gone a year on the same plugs and they looked fine when I swappd them out.

yes yes and yes. look into getting a bottle blanket while you're at it too. it helps maintain the bottle pressure longer once it gets there.
