FS: 1989 Civic Si - mods - ATL area

For Sale: 1989 Honda Civic Si 5-speed $2000 OBO VIN:2HGED7361KH512076

Cliff notes: Car burns some oil and is gutted, meaning no rear seats or plastic, no carpeting, no AC, and no audio equipment. This is car is perfect for the right Honda enthusiast.

Complete listing of the car:
I am the second owner of the car and its been a southern car is whole life. I bought it back in April 1997. I’ve owned the car a long time and am sad to see it go. I will try to be as honest as possible with describing the car. I purchased the car with 184,000 miles on it from the original owner. The car came stock but with different 15” wheels and the Eibach springs and Tokico shocks. I have done the rest of the mods since then. The original owner explained the motor had ~100,000 miles on it when I bought the car because the timing belt broke about 5,000 before and the engine was replaced. The odometer shows 253,500 miles, but car currently has ~260,000 to 265,000 miles on it. The mileage is not exactly known because the speedometer cable broke probably 7 or 8 years ago. I continued to drive the car for a while. Initially I thought the gauge cluster had stopped so I purchased a used one and installed it. But come to find out, it was the speedometer cable. So while the car had the used cluster in it, I had to go for emissions. And the carfax will show the ~169,000 miles and then jumped back to the original cluster. I believe I have the carfax print out laying around somewhere for any interested parties.

The car is perfect for the right Honda enthusiast. It dyno’ed 115hp and 103ft-lbs to the wheels a few years back. The car is gutted. No rear seat or plastic, carpeting, audio equipment, or AC. It is sub 2200 lbs. The car was repainted 9 years ago but has since faded and looks aged, but I didn’t care because the car is not for show. The car was in a small front bumper to bumper collision about 8 years ago. A lady pulled out in front of me and it pushed in the hood a bit. I found a used black hood at a junkyard and just pulled the core support back as best I could, but the trim piece below the headlights is still a tad out of shape and can be seen in the pics.

I’m selling the car because I don’t have the time and money to put toward it. The car is a second fun car and it would be better off with someone else. I’ve only driven the car maybe ~1500-2000 miles in the past 4 years.

Mods:
Engine
- stock D16A6 bottom end with D16Z6 vtec head.
- Fields vtec controller – only wired to control vtec, fuel is not wired in
- AEM cold air intake
- Greddy Exhaust
Suspension/Brakes
- Eibach springs with Tokico Illumina 5-way adjustable shocks
- 15” flat black Rota Slipstreams with Dunlop 195/50/15s SP 9000 tires with great tread
- Integra front and rear disc brakes swap
- bigger Civic Ex 15/16” master cylinder
- Suspension Techniques rear sway bar
- entire Energy Suspension poly bushing kit
- front strut tower brace
-a few other minor mods

Replaced the front CV boots, front wheel bearings, inner and outer tie rods, lower ball joints, and a lower mileage steering rack about 2000 miles ago when I installed in the Integra front brake swap.

Extra parts included:
-used test pipe
-Z6 intake manifold with throttle body (flows better than the A6 currently on the car)
-brand new OEM oil pan gasket

Known issues:
-Car burns oil. Probably a quart every 100-200 miles. The car still makes great power though.
-rear sway bar makes a bit a noise.
-every now and then the car stalls at idle and won’t restart for a few minutes. ECU isn’t flashing any codes and I haven’t been able to pinpoint the issue.
