I know that this has been covered, but the search does not appear to be working for me right now...

This morning I went to start my car and it wouldn't. The RPM's jumped up, but never got over 500. After letting it sit for a few minutes, I was able to get to car to start by giving it gas at the same time that I was starting it.

Does this sound like the 4th gen's typical "Cold weather starting problem"?

Anything I should check/fix?

Try pulling a check engine code (whether you have a light or not) and see what you come up with. Post back with results.

I have, and I get the usual ( for me at least ) 0707 O2 sensor code. This is due to my cat, and I don't think it is at all related with the starting problem.

I just changed my oil yesterday, but I took it out for a spin after that and everything was fine.

Who knows, maybe this was just a one time thing!

This might not apply to your situation but I experienced the cold starting problem this winter for the 1st time in my Max, had the car looked over for problems when I had it serviced but he mechanic found nothing. The problem went away right after I installed the K&N drop in air filter. I was really surprised because I had replaced the air filter 1 month prior w/a stock filter. But my problem is gone and i've had no starting issues since.

Update

Well, I just left work and the car started just fine after sitting for 4 hours.

I guess that's good.

Happens to me often.

I get the cold start problem about 1 or 2 times a week. I hate it. A little gas gets her going but I hate the idea of gassing it before it gets a chance to circulate some oil.

My nissan dealer found no reason for it to be happening. They said just get it checked periodically and don't ignore it incase it is the start of an eventual problem.

I broke 118,000 today on my 95 and I guess these things happen. Wish they wouldnt.

If it happens again, could be a dirty throttle body. I notice you have a CAI and if the filter is of the oil type, that could cause the throttle body to get dirty and end up causing starting problems.

Good thought. I will have to take the intake apart this weekend and check it all out.

Thanks for the input.
