I have a set of Eibach Prokits here, and while on the ****ter i was looking at my sport compact and i saw an ad for ground control springs. Are these springs any better than the Eibach pro kit, i know they are made by eibach. Would you reccomend them more than the Prokit ?

Ground Control coilovers are Eibach springs in threaded sleeves that allow you to raise and lower the ride height. You need to provide your own shocks (preferably Koni).

It's the same thing you just get a adjustable spring perch.

I heard you can request your own Spring rate though. So, you could get high rate race springs.

Ive never heard that. Though I may be wrong. That would take a long time to wait for and is not very cost effecent.

Ask Kev about it, I'm pretty sure he requested custom spring rates.

It's only $40 more to get custom spring rates for GCs. As far as how they compare, the Pro-Kit is a progressive rate spring, whereas GCs use linear rate springs.

You can get custom springs from Ground Control. All you have to do is request them. It doesn't take any longer to get the springs and it doesn't cost more to get custom spring rates. When I ordered mine, they arrived the next day.
IMO, the handling is better than the Eibach Pro Kit.

Hers:
450 front 7"
375 rear 7"

Mine:
500 front 6"
375 rear 6"

I wouldn't mind going with with 450 lbs for the rear

Hey Kev,

1. Is her set-up the "stock" set-up from GC?

2. Am I correct in my understanding that the 7" allows for more wheel gap than the 6"? If not .. what difference does the 1" make?

3. If u get the 450 for the rear ... wouldn't that make your ride even harsher?

tkx!

Why not get 500 Front and Rear? Would that make handling better?

Thanks,
Mike

1) Nope. I think they give you 8" springs for the front (or was is the rear).

2) Correct. 6" let's you drop the car even further... drop it too much and you'll bottom out all the time though. 1" makes quite a difference if you want a slammed look.

3) Yup.

The rear is lighter than the front, so I might be bouncing all over the place. 500/500 would give me more oversteer... could be good, could be bad.

hmm, oversteer, FWD car + a little oversteer = amazing in Auto X...muahahahahh

Now, just to get the money. Not that I haven't already spent 7Gs on Maxi this summer already...(S/C, tranny, clutch, flywheel, rims...etc)

Ah well, Thanks for the info Kev.

It's all relative. I don't consider my ride that harsh, but other's might have a different opinion. It's definitely harsher than the Eibach Pros.

Soft spring rates with short springs equals spring bind...... basically, the springs will compress all the way, which is not good.

Sprint springs give you a 2" drop if you're interested in those.

How much wheel gap does Caroline have with her stock GC setup? or put another way ... how much did it lower the ride?

It's adjustable once you put the sleeve on your choice of strut/shock

Since you are addressing Kevin I'm assuming you are talking about me.

I have a little less than an inch of wheelgap.

BTW, my name is Jane

Hey Kev/Jane ... how much did you car drop with your springs Kev? I asked the guy that I bought the GC's from with the 7" springs & he says that it'll drop from 1/2 to 1" at the most?

mingo and I compared my car to his and it was about 2" (I've dropped it further since then, probably about 0.5" more).
