It helps to know your proper production dateto avoid getting codes...

If you dont care about codes i have a 5spd ecu i could sell you.

thank you. to be honest im not even sure what i need. I have a 95 gle that i converted to a 5spd. Long story short, when the car moves it idles steay at 1500. when its sitting running its fine. Im being told its a ECM? thought they were the same?? also being told to disconnect the IACV?
i dont want to get any codes, i mean i want to be able to pass PA inspection.

High idle with your original auto ecu after the 5spd swap? Im no guru on the auto to manual conversion as i had matthel do mine here in norcal. But i am sure that its not ur ECU...maybe someone can chime in...but i would start a thread in the 4th gen section and get some feedback before you start spending money.

For the production date of your car you have to look on your door sill and it will tell you a month and year...u need to get an ECU that MATCHES that production date or your going to be pulling up codes for sensors you dont have. You also need to find out if you have a CALI or FED spec maxima...

All this stuff is important when buying the RIGHT ecu.

High idle would be cause by faulty iacv or maybe you have something unpluged that you forgot to connect after the swap? Check the small stuff, clean your IACV...then work from there.

The auto ECU will have no ill effects other than a CEL when you do a 5spd swap...i ran mine with the auto ecu for almost a year before i bought a 5spd ecu.

thanks for the help. I have a thread up now.(http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...will-help.html)

Its not a irradiac high idle just a steady 1500-2000 rpm idel while the car is moving. I think it does this because it thinks its a auto and its trying to run the trans pump or keep the converter spinning. once you come to a stop it will go back to 700. it never jumps around like a bad IACV.

After your swap, why did you swap to a 5spd ecu?

how close on the production dates to you have to be? within a year? or months? its a 1995 for sure. ill check exactly when later (my DD is a g35)

What is the difference between the electronic control module and electronic control unit? (some1 said it was my ECM)

Go with a fed spec '95 ECU any production date will work. '95 only have a EGR valve, but have all the correct engine management stuff. Try to verify the p/n is a 95 a good place to look is http://jimwolftechnology.com/wolfpdf/ECU-ID.PDF

PM if you want help with anything....

You have a ECU.
