Month old car got hit

So my car was parked on the street last night at a bar and an old man backs into my driver door. Car is barely a month old. I'm so pissed. I feel like it won't be the same now.

Ouch!

I know your pain. An old lady in a minivan backed into my 03 Cobra's passenger door 2 weeks after I got it.

Dude, it won't be the same. I don't care how good they do, I don't care how good the parts are, you're going to notice it. Had the door replaced on my car not long ago, light hit just like this, still hear noise going over bumps. Guys at the body shop have tried everything, I just gave up and turn up the stereo.

That's what pisses me off the most because I know it will never be the same

yup.. i had to get the passenger door replaced completely and it's not the same. They couldn't line it up 100% perfectly, noone else notices it but me. But it's so annoying, I have to just live with it. The bottom part of my door lines up perfectly and the top half doesn't. if you run your finger over it its not flush. No water or air leak though. I would just be on the guys at the bodyshop and make sure they do it right

Maybe I've had better luck, but I had someone smack into my previous car pretty bad, and you couldn't even tell the difference when they were all said and done. Every shop is different, find the best one you can.

I'm gonna use the shop that my Nissan dealer uses. I spoke with them today and he told me he's repaired cars for them before that they've put back in the showroom with worse damage than I have. That eases my mind a lot. They come highly recommended by everyone in the area so I'm hoping it looks like new when he's done. Just waiting on police report now to file claim with the idiots insurance.

I would have asked for diminished value from her insurance.

They did a much better job on your Max than mine did on a 2014 MDX (rear quarter panel). The light and shadows looked horrible...

Diminished value is money provided (based on cost of repair) to cover what you will lose when you sell or turn in the vehicle.

I can actually ask for this? And what is the process? Do I need and attorney?

Yes, you have to ask from the other party's adjuster for it. No attorney required. I believe most will give you about 10% but not sure if from car's value or amt of damage caused.

Someone clarify for me.

Good luck,

Is it too late to ask for that since the repairs are done already?
