I am just curious what would be the best gas mileage you've gotten so far, based on the dashboard trip computer. I am not sure how accurate the trip computer is (and sometimes, I feel it tells little porkies) but I think it is kind of interesting to see what your gas mileage is.
So far, from the trip computer, my best gas mileage is 36.1 MPG.
That was highway driving and perhaps, a 10 mile trip.
Of note, my car has about 1,800 miles on it and I use 91-92 octane fuel.
What has been your best gas mileage and what fuel do you use?
Of note, and possibly, this should be for a different thread but I have definitely noticed some quality issues with my car. I will need to get it looked at but I am most definitely NEVER going to recommend WAYZATA NISSAN!
My best mileage so far ('17SL) was 37.3 on combination 60% interstate, 30% state route, 10% rural 180 mile round trip with wife and me. Avg. close to 50 mph. Had only 2000 miles on her at the time (not even broken in yet) and it was a clear day in January here in cold winter Ohio. Oh, and I got that using 87 octane which I will continue to use unless someone convinces me otherwise.
I get over 36 regularly, on highway trips. I have to keep the speed to 70 to get that, though. Premium only for Mad Max.
And you know, Wayzata Nissan didn't build your car, right?

No, Wayzata Nissan did not build the car but they are responsible for the presentation of the vehicle and ensure there aren't any DEFECTS so I don't need to bring my car back to them 3 times already.
Is there a common problems thread for the 8th generation yet? (Sorry about this diversion) I might post my comments about the build there.
LOL, mfshehri, your best fuel mileage figure was 36.1 too? I am surprised at the gas mileage of these large cars.
Just made a 3098 mile trip from Oklahoma to Washington DC (4 Days) Then to Philedelphia (2 Days) then to Chicago (2 Days ) -Most of the time my cruise was set on 78. Obviously the in town driving was very stop in go in those cities.
Ran 89 Octane for the most part.
Computer reported 30.3 for the trip - the trunk was COMPLETELY loaded and carrying the family (Wife and two kids). The car was full.
FWIW Last summer a similar trip to Mt. Rushmore / Yellowstone / Vegas / Grand Canyon (~ 4300 miles) my 2013 sport got 24.5 (Premium fuel only) - The speed limit on many of those roads (certainly not including 3 days driving inside Yellowstone) was 80
Daily commute of 17 miles to and from work dealing with traffic both ways, and I average 29 to 30 MPG. When I am able to get out in the open and cruise along I get around 33 to 34 MPG at 70 to 75 MPH.

i average 25 MPG driving 75 ish during normal hwy morning and 18-20 mpg evening (traffic congestion) 18 miles each way. On regular gas. My best was 34 mpg during a 50 mile road trip all hwy 2 weeks ago.
I just did a tankful that was about 50% highway / 30% rural roads / 20% city and got 30.9 MPG, calculating it myself. The car's computer showed I got 31.5 MPG, so it overestimates a little bit, which is what I've experienced in every car I've owned. I usually get about 25-26 MPG in my normal 50/50 driving, and suspect I might get 33+ on a true highway trip. I've owned the car for three months, and I'm pretty pleased with the fuel mileage. I also suspect it will go down in winter, as my last car did significantly worse in winter (2-3 MPG less in winter).

Crazy, owning the car for a year highest i've seen is 19.. I average 16 though using 92 octane. I tend to only get around 250 miles per tank before It's almost empty

I downloaded an app called Fuelly that keeps track of every fill-up. Take a look at it. I think it also aggregates data by car model for others to look at.

I'm seeing an average of about 28 mpg in mostly highway driving over about 7,000 miles. I generally use premium. A recent all highway tank indicated 34 mpg on the computer, but calculated a whopping 37 mpg. I'm noticing some inconsistency in how much fuel the car will take when I fill up which skews some of the calculated numbers.

What does your car idle at? Is it higher than 650? You may need to reset your computer if someone cleaned your throttle body. It is a common problem and creates horrible gas mileage. Are there any warning lights on?
Wife's car, but I do fill it and notice that after long highway trips when wife goes to visit her mother the mileage is really good. Now in town the mileage is quite poor, but gas prices are not high and overall the car only sees 12K miles a year. Plus wife uses remote start in winter each day so car runs for the 10 minutes and then shuts off and if lots of ice and snow then she may restart it again for another 10 minutes.
The government spends a lot of effort on mpg so it surprises me that they haven't attempted to ban remote starts that can potentially run for 20 minutes.

No, I'm sure the weenies at EPA and other alphabet agencies have thought about banning remote starters. My wife is also a big fan. I try to keep it under 10 minutes, but she thinks nothing of running it much longer. Yeah, that'll certainly keep winter MPGs down, no doubt.

This isn't limited to the Maxima. Most cars nowadays have a huge spread between city and highway MPG, much more than years ago. Manufacturers have figured out how to get good highway MPG through various means (multi-speed automatics, CVTs, cylinder deactivation, aerodynamic features, etc.).

The Nissan mpg computer is only good for relative tank-to-tank comparisons and not for absolutely accurate mpg numbers. As with my Volvo before it, my 2016 SL always reports the average mpg as (at least) one-and-a-half to two mpg above the true performance as determined by using the actual miles driven and gallons pumped. Do it several times in a row, recording octane and type of driving done, and you'll have a true picture of your car's mpg performance.

Sounds about right, its unfortunate. I paid around 300$ last month in gas, I don't remember it always being like this though, I hardly make 250 miles per tank when I first got the car I remember getting at least 300-320 everytime. Maybe I'm mistaken

There must be something wrong. Even 320 miles is low.
Last time I got 683 km (425 miles)with full tank in city and the computer showing me I can still drive for 48 km (30 miles) more with the AC on all the time.
On highways, Last months I traveled with my max and got 802 km (498 miles) per tank till the tank was almost empty.
I don't do sudden acceleration a lot so maybe it is your driving habits.
All my friend and relatives get shocked when I tell them about the mileage I drive with one tank.
My best was 38.6 (zero traffic, 93 octane since new) on at least a 50mi stretch (I guess I should take a photo to prove it). But my daily 30mi commute from Brooklyn to Long Island is more like 25-27.
I'm getting between 26-31 mpg. I run sport mode and use regular. How much I stomp on the gas(highway passing only) determines which end of the spectrum I'm on. My last 2 cars, a RSX S and a Civic SI, got around 27-29 driving like a maniac, using premium only.
I believe if I drive normally, my cost of ownership will be less than these other 2 cars, and the amenities are MUCH nicer.

Gesus, you must be an engineer! If not, then you should be. :-) I have an engineer friend who documents everything, even data about cost of food each time he eats out. :-)

Funny I should read this tonight. I just returned from getting gas. When the pump cuts off I usually put the hose away. Tonight I was naughty and pulled the fill spout up about 2" after it shut off, in order to get a few more ounces in there. The stinking thing took at least another gallon before it shut off again. My fuel gauge is higher than I've ever seen it. Wonder if I have been short-filling since I've had the car.
