Funny I should read this tonight. I just returned from getting gas. When the pump cuts off I usually put the hose away. Tonight I was naughty and pulled the fill spout up about 2" after it shut off, in order to get a few more ounces in there. The stinking thing took at least another gallon before it shut off again. My fuel gauge is higher than I've ever seen it. Wonder if I have been short-filling since I've had the car.
Use the same pump at the same station. This should make it more consistent. I know some places I have filled up the damn pump shuts off all the time during the fill up.......some are pretty sensitive

Mine shuts off too early because I can get at least another gallon in after 1st shut off. The EPA hates that because of the risk of spilled fuel. Others say it is bad for the engine charcol canister. No issues for me in 45,000 mile of trouble free high mileage per gallon driving.

I believe my record for a single trip is something like 39.6 mpg, as recorded by the trip computer. This was in similar conditions to what you describe, moderate temps, 25-30 miles or so, all highway at somewhat lower speeds. My calculated record for a full tank is over 35 mpg. If driven moderately, this car is capable of very impressive fuel economy.

Outstanding indeed. I assume little to no traffic too? Any passengers? Normal or sport mode? Thx

No passengers, normal mode, lighter traffic than usual. I think it was a trip in to work one morning.

My best mileage came on interstate with cruise control on. Not much in hills other than overpasses. Not much passing unless I could do it while in cruise. Just me in the car, I run 93 octane, no ethanol.

Remembered to take a snap of the old ECO Drive Report when I pulled into the garage tonight.

My most recent fill up was 16.5 gallons. 456 miles on my trip meter. Average of 27.6 miles per gallon. Pretty fricken good for a v6. Also, just filled up with non ethanol premium, so i expect that average to go up. My local gas station finally brought back the non ethanol
