So knowbody has seen or done a 5-speed swap??
You can really do either or. If you want a stick, best bet is to sell your auto and buy a stick. THat would be cheaper in the long run and less problems. I personally WOULD do a conversion to swap my auto to stick. It's really up to you. It doesnt make much sense to swap trannies but i love me car and have all my mods on it that i would rather go for the swap. Need4pwr has done this swap in his 3rd gen. He is the guy that has the BMW headlights too. Phat ride though.

LET ME CLARIFY THIS...
First... Do a search...
Second..
My best friend has done this by a reputable N.W. shop called Z-sport (for those of you who wanted to know)
and it was a complete success... let me repeat SUCCESS..
just like having a 5sp... couldn't tell the difference that it was an auto before...
It cost him about $3000 w/ aluminum flywheel, short shifter, and stage III clutch...
If you REALLY want it done.. good luck and enjoy...

I've heard of it being done,
and the guy that had it done was told that it was probably the worst car they've ever seen to do that to =) .. Sounds like some mixed opinions here, but if you can find a shop that'll do it that has done a maxima swap before, and your able to verify that they know what they're doing, I'd say go for it if you got the cash hehe. Probably be cheaper just to find some guy getting married or something that needs to swap to an auto for his wife.

hehe
yea it is possible. A few people have done the conversion already. My swap will happen once my motor is ready to be put in. Im hoping i can get it done within 1 week workin at least 2+ hours a day. It will be pretty challenging. New tranny, wire harness, ECU, shift linkage, motor mount, pedal assembly, those are all i can think of off the top of my head. Good luck and let me know if you want/need some help.

Well..
I'm planning on an S/C with an auto and I know my tranny is gonna die real fast with the way I drive. When that happens, I'm going for the manual rebuild. I also know that Skimax is planning for it in the near future...I think. I trust my shop enough, and if they don't do it right, I have a few surprises for them!!
Hi, I have a 3rd gen and I really wana convert it 2 manual but there were no manual 3rd gen maximas made in New Zealand.... I could import everything i need from the states but that would be risky and take time. Anyone got any ideas?
Max1man (from Oregon) did a 4th gen AT to 5-speed swap. He sold his car, though, so I don't think he checks this board anymore.
His turned out very well. He had his car SC'd and then removed that and went with nitrous.
