Yes. I think Nissan overrated this engine. (automatic Cali/Northeast emissions) Maybe we should sue like the Cobra owner's did in 1999. Mazda overrated the new Miata at 155 horse. It turns out it really is 142. An automatic shouldn't lose more than 20% through the drivetrain. My Max lost 26%.

is it really that low? b/c I know the v6 accords have around 155-160hp at the wheels stock.

most auto trannys lose more than 20% of the power when going to the wheels. like Honda's typically lose about 23-25% of the power. and just by reading this board, it sounds like Nissan built a crappy auto. tranny. UNLESS, you get a better torque converter installed, you will lose a lot of hp through the tranny..

Yep, it's that low. See my site for 2 dyno plots. I ran with and without a cone intake.

I guess 26% loss is within reasonable limits, just up at the upper end of the scale.

...And the 5 speeds?

Are the figures higher in the manual trannys?

The 5 speed tranny loses less, probably around 15%.

For 5 speeds: stock I've seen 15-17% loss. For Y pipe and intake I've seen as low as 10% loss. That's pretty awesome.

On Hi Performance TV (TNN), I've seen race built engines lose 20% through the drivetrain.

I've heard that the 1.8 turbo VW stick dyno tests somewhere around 140 HP. This engine is obviously underated at 150 HP. The new one is 170 HP and still underated.

That sounds about right. I've seen stock 5spd dyno around 190hp and 186-188lbs/ft torque.

That's what my 2k 5spd dyno'd to the wheels (190). That translates to 222 hp at the crank with about a 15% loss. Announced figures are at the crank.

With the SI and cattman Y - 203 to the wheels, which is around 240 at the crank.

The claims you hear from Stillen about the Y pipe and SI are way exaggerated.

A y-pipe is the intermediate pipe that goes between the ehaust headers and the cat. check the FAQ or search for lots more info
