Hey guys i've been wanting a K&N filter for quite some time now. My friends advise me not to get one and put it into the stock airbox because dirt accumulates and screws up your engine.

Is this true?

Would you reccomend a whole intake system for about $200 or just the drop in filter?

Keep in mind, I do want a little more of a growl from my engine. I heard AKIMOTO makes a loud drop in filter.

Thannks for the help guys.

I don't think any drop-in filter will make munch noise. The stock intake system has a lot of tubing and resonators. You won't get much performance from a drop in filter. Cotton filters flow better than paper ones. But I doubt they filter any better. They probably filter a little worse. So you would be getting a little bit more dirt for no performance. Go with a full intake kit.

all filters get dirty thats why you clean/replace em, cone filter get the same if not more dirt then the drop ins, i would buy a drop in really no point becuase
1. you get no cool sound like a cone
2. you get almost no gain

just cuz we paid money for em. we wanna try to look hardcore like the people with real inakes. seriously, it's not much to brag about. i got this one because my mom's i30t needed an air filter replacement. i put my brand new 2k airbox filter in her car and stuck a k&n in mine. when i get a real intake, ill put the k&n in her's. she doesnt need performance and doesnt want more noise. she only wants it cuz it's reusable.

Purely opinion.

Some people swear by K&N filters.
You won't get much if any performance gains.
You oil gets dirtier quicker too.
They do allow more air but not enough to make a difference.
Upgrading to a intake system will substantially increase engine noise. -It's a nice growl. Similar to what the engine sounds like stock only slightly deeper and louder -I've heard it's similar to an Acura NSX growl. Better power and mileage from a new intake system too.

intake

Just get a JWT pop charger (or Stillen if u have money)
Or u might wanna go for CAI. Yer choice. Both of these are better than just a drop in filter.
Good luck
Andy
