Those Melting Pullies!

All,

How many of you have installed the stock stillen polyurethane idler and tenisor pulleys and have had them melt? I have searched, and I know that Cheston, and just recently Black Cat has had them melt.

Any other people w/o problems/ with problems?

Reason I am asking is b/c I have ordered the ASP aluminum ones and I wanted to know if I should just keep these plastic ones as spares, or put the other ones on first (the aluminums that is)? I know that is probably self explanitory, and as always I will except any/all flames, but I just wanted some peace of mind.

Thanks y'all!

I would install the aluminum ones and keep the others as spares. Remember if your pulley melts and the belt shreds, and God forbid you run into problems with the blower, Vortech will not warranty it if it has belt shavings in it.

When I was working on shadows blower one of his plastic pullies were ready to go. I dont know if he has replaced them. Right now I have the ASP metal pulleys. What I like about the metal ASP pullies is that you can buy a replacement bearing if anything goes wrong at Napa. I never had a problem with the ASP pullies to this day.

Jay,

I remember you saying that. I bought those pullies, and the only reason why my S/C isn't in is b/c I'm waiting for them to come back. That was a week and 1/2 ago. I called them today, and they said they went to some place to get the aluminum coated so they last longer??

Anyway it cost me abt 65 a piece shipped. Sounds abt right?

Are the ASP pullies different from the ones DanNY was selling? I got both aluminum pullies from him for $190 shipped.

WTF

I got my pullies tonight.

I checked for size and fitment, and well.. 1 of them is the same. The tenisor fits just right.

The idler is another story. It's the same size as the stillen, but the bolt hole is bigger. Stillen's starts out w/a bigger hole, and on the otherside has a small sleeve which guides the bolt, making it snug. Is there anything I can do w/ this, or am I gonna have to send it back

I just bolted that sucker on there no sleeve. but now that chunger said they sell the sleeve I am going to order one lets see how much they charge me for that sleeve. Funnylittleman just order you the sleeve. Ill look into one for myself. I did not know that stillen would actually sell you the freaking sleeve since I never got one either.

Glad things are working out...

Just so you know... the 'various replacement' parts for the Vortech kits are a real pain to look up (I watched him do it several times)... My rep was/is patient, although busy at times... You can hardly blame (some of) them for a $3 part (unless you bought the whole kit from them).
