Are SAFC modules removable?

Like stereos with detachable faceplates, can you disconnect the S-AFC unit and take it with you? I've never seen one in person so I don't know what kind of connectors they have.

I'd hate to leave my $300 S-AFC in the car where someone can steal it .

Not really unless you wanted to re-run the wiring harnesses everytime you plugged it back in.

So the wiring harness doesn't plug into the back of the AFC? You have to disconnect the AFC from the ECU (or something else). Like on computer monitors where you can't disconnect the vga cable from the monitor, you have to disconnect it from the computer?

Well you can disconnect it but I wouldn't recommend it.. If you try to start your car without the ECU attached you'll check CEL because the AFC is hooked directly to your ecu... It happened to me before and I had to clear it. I have mines in the glove box.

Yeah, I'd have to remember to reconnect it, but if I'm parking the car anywhere but my garage, I'd like to be able to unplug the afc and bring it with me, the same way I detach the faceplate of my stereo.

If your boosted then it's a good mod. You can adjust your A/F and allow it to run leaner which will give you more power...

OIC...
a couple of more questions
Is this another easy to install item?
I guess this requires dyno-testing?

Yeah, it lets you adjust air-fuel ratio and such. For 5th gens with the SC and BOV, I've been told the AFC will correct the MAF readings that cause the car to idle funny. It costs like $250-300, so it's not cheap.

I would definitely recommend dyno testing.. Cuz you don't want to lean it out too much or BOOM!!
