SC Pre-Install Install questions
SC Pre-Install Install questions
I'm trying to come up with everything that I can install this upcoming weekend before I tackle the major work involved in the project.
PS lines - Sounds simple enough (in concept). You remove the aluminum ones, correct? What do the instructions refer to when they say to "cycle" the PS rack?
Fuel stuff - I already have a walbro installed, so I'm not going to be using the aux. pump. So I can install the FMU now, correct? Is the following the correct fuel flow: FRP OUT -> FMU IN -> FMU OUT -> Return line
Boost guage - I'll be a true ricer and monitor my vac. for a week.
Anything else you guys can think of that I can do before the actcual install?

1) Remove the aluminum ones that are in the engine bay. I never received the one that sits in front of the condenser, so I just reused it. No clue what "cycle" meant.
2) Correct. Yes, you can install that now.
3)
but time of completion will be that much sooner.
You can move the horns, setup the stand-off bolts, put the camshaft retainer in, move the relay box back, relocate the coolant reservoir, and wire the electrical stuff.

Re: SC Pre-Install Install questions
Cycling the power steering just means to remove any air that might have entered the lines. You do it by turning the steering wheel all the way left, then all the way right, and repeat several times. You will know when to stop when the whining noise from the ps pump goes away.
In addition to what y2kevse said, you can also install the thermostat housing that came with the kit and the water pump cover with the oil return pipe. Seal off the end of the pipe with a rubber stopper or something. Now would be a good time to replace radiator hoses, too.

Thanks. There isn't any electrical stuff if I'm not using the aux pump, correct? Either that or I missed something!

Relocate the fuse box
Move alarm horn
Clean junk off of fitting area on back of oil pan
Remove PS hardlines (they are not reuseable in my case)
Install new cooler lines and just turn left to right with top of cylinder open to top off fluid to cold level.
