9 PSI, Automagic (no longer) and 270fwhp, 230tq.

14.7 1/4 mile.

V2 w/ 9psi = 275whp, 253tq, 1/4 mile = I need to go soon, hopefully 13's.

My only runs on the 3.33 weren't all that accurate yet. I dynoed 267hp/238lbs-ft and hit a 14.3@96.

BUT the reason for this is traction, and the tranny (2-3 shift would slip into the fuel cut).

I'm an auto FYI.. street radials. I used to hit 14.5 on an average day with the "stock" pulley (that's 3psi less of boost), without the s-afc, and without the exhaust.

wow, it seems its useless to SC an auto, might as well do a 5sp swap first...

Strange....I have similar power and the MEVI with boost, which should make us equal.....but I can only get 14.7. Then again, I had no exhaust and no AFC back then also. I haven't run since adding those mods.

Then again, my boost never seems to hit 9PSI very often...more like and average of 7 with the 3.25" Pulley. I've been trying to figure that out for months...

I often hit 9PSI in 1st Gear
7 in 2nd Gear
5-6 in 3rd Gear.

My vacuum reads 15Hg in Nuetral. This has all the signs of a vacuum leak, but I've been looking for a year and never found one, and the car idles perfect and the guage is steady as a rock.

Anyway, sorry to jack the thread up....

When I was an auto with v2 9psi I dyno'd @ 255whp when I was at the track ran 14.5 97.6 trap speed.... I found out later with the afc that I ran super rich before cuz I was able to push out 294whp with the afc.. I'm manuel now and a smaller pulley so I should be in the 13's..

wow! so it seems like boost is not really helping anyone when it comes to a quarter mile run. With numbers like 267 to the wheels i figured we should be running 13's especailly when u have N/A guys running quicker times that 14.5. Requin6 is running 14.2's with bolt ons!!! Whats the deal?

like Jer said, you have to figure in tracttion issues too. you can slap on all the HP in the world, but if you can't put it to the ground it won't matter. tuning is also important. check in the 1/4th mile forum, I know there are more than just a few boosted guys running 13's, some auto I think.

But these guys trap speeds are lower than mine, neal, and requin which are pushing much less power to the wheels. Times show the traction but trap speeds show the power. I only dynoed at 211whp and 224tq and i have hit 98-99 traps numerous times.

Yeah exactly, I saw 9psi on the dyno and that was it : usually I keep my eye on it till about 7psi, then I look at what's in front of me. Dragstrip or not, you never know what might hop out under your car, or what might happen with the other driver/vehicle

What did the rest of your timeslip look like, if you remember?

15inHg is "bad". I think it was you that I replied to in another thread saying that 20/16 is fine, but you should be at 20In/Hg once the car is reasonably warmed up and idling (you will likely see slightly lower vacuum values when the car is cold and out of gear - duh). There is SOMETHING amiss... have you changed boost gauges? Maybe tried different fittings/etc? It should be 20ish.. 19-21...

Also, try changing plugs and see if that helps. Gap to 0.039 with 1 step colder and see what you get - I'm curious. Either copper or iridium NGK's. Screw plats

Thanks...I'm aware of what it should be...I don't think I said 16 is OK....maybe I was on too much Kool-Aid that night or something....

3 sets of plugs Copper NGK's....1 step colder and regular Plats....4 gauges, 2 sets of vacuum lines, removed manifold 2x and replaced all gaskets, sprayed brake cleaner everywhere with no drop in idle, replaced and re-zip tied every fitting, removed SC piping and checked for holes, sealed Ambient Sensor with RTV twice...and 2 compression tests, which came out above spec slightly.

As you can see, I've tried alot.... I gave up about 6 months ago. Maybe one day I'll be doing some routine task on my car and then have an epiphany or something and fix it.

There is still the thought that my BOV could be doing it..but that never made sense to me, as when I'm at idle, the BOV isn't doing anything anyway....and I've set it to every setting from opened 100% to closed 100%.

But I do have a new BOV on the way anyway....

I don't remember the whole timesplip, but my 60' was 2.3 seconds...

edit: Tried gapping everywhere from .042 to .032....right now I'm at .038.

I had a V1 with a 3.125 pulley. It was running about 9psi. I don't have any dyno numbers. I ran a 13.9 on my auto though. The guy that bought my SC did me slightly better, he ran a 13.8 Hope this helps.

In due time, I shall hit 13's in with the auto. The linear boost is the worst characteristic of the sc to me, it just doesn't hit like a turbo.

iansw : if the BOV weren't tightened properly/you were losing boost to it, you'd likely come accross stalling issues

I think it's just those wheels!

Cumalot : thanks for setting my goals; I must beat a 13.9 and I will be happy!

Sadly, my car was sick today after installing my RSB (coincidentally) - I went for a spin and she doesn't feel the same anymore (on the upside, I totally pushed the car too far and did a nice slide at over 70mph on a nice long smooth turn behind my friend's shop... fun stuff!).
