do miles matter (for motor building purposes)?

I am getting pistons and rods and hopefully valve springs to begin building the motor for boost. The guy at my shop said lower is always better, but I have spoken with Nigel, and he said miles dont matter? Any thoughts?
I can get a 98 w/ 14k for 700 shipped
or a 97 w/ 42k for 500 shipped
I also may be able to get a 96 w/ 46k for 400 shipped.

What should I do?
