HELP, keep auto with lag or manual

I am so confused about e verything.

1st I HATE THE TURBO LAG>>>>> i cant beat no one with the start if the lag..... I am auto and i dont go no where from start..

Then im consideringf swaping for manual but im not sure if i should do that.. I hate doing all that work to drive a car.

I was thinking about doing the vb mod and soliends but then ill just have a lag lag lag.

What do you people with turbo auto do? about the lag.... I hate it

Please give me sugg. Thanks

I dont think manual will be in my budget.

I have a little lag...

but man running cars I can catch up by 30.

YES, there are some cars that I can't catch till 60 and some I won't catch, but I do ok..

do you have the MEVI ? If not run them from 10 MPH roll

what are you trying to race?

what have you dyno'd at?

also brake boost.. even at a roll...

At a red light hold the brake and floor it.. should stop at 2000 rpm..

at ANY speed on the highway hold the brake and the accelerator at the same time

I have lag at start.. i would loose to civics turboed civics but i would always be right behind them.. if i had better start i would be in front.

im pushing 5psi dynoed at 225whp... i still need to change my stiock exahust... to a catback... maybe even a starght pipe since the car is registered upstate i dont need emissions test.?

I do the hold the brake and rev up rpms but it seems to slow me down if the car ran a few times allready. if its hot.
i was a flat lands ave and lost to the ****y civic i was ****ed. twice!!!

Will the vb mod help my launch.. Im guesisng it should since its taking .4-.6 off times?

VB won't really do much for you. A lot of ppl say it'll shave time off there 1/4 and some say it don't. Your tranny will basically just shift faster with the VB. It won't make your car any faster. If you wanna stay auto then get a bullet proof tranny, vb mod, and throw in a high stall torque converter. That way you can just brake torque to like 4G and slam the gas

Well at least you hope.
What are the specs on your TO4E? (internal specs and a/r)
Damn after all these years they haven't crack down on Flatland, it was a hot spot along with 150th up in Queens. Memories
Along with a higher stall converter, maybe a little weight lost might help.
Maybe a little shot NOS to help down low.

maybe they are just faster?? you're only making 225whp afterall, thats not really alot for a heavier Maxima, automatic tranny at that. I can't imagine the stock exhaust helping you out much either!

That's true.. I've seen turbo civics run like 13.5 and lower. 225whp is nothing...

5 psi boost

that hurts. go with 10 psi or more, just enough to beat that civic.

some of my ricier civic si friends have turbo and they run low 13s @ 17 psi.

and getting full 3" exhaust with boost controller should help you dramatically.

i swapped over to 5 speed after blowing my 3rd gear out on my AUTO. and a piece of crap it was. even with the VB mod. a huge difference in power and pull now.

Auto's will neva hold up the amount of power a 5 or 6 speed can put down.

That's not true.. There are a lot of auto Supra's out there with huge @ss turbos pushing out 1000+hp.

Auto's can hold it as long as you take precautions and rebuild it.

I think he means in terms of putting power DOWN on the ground(ie- % drivetrain loss)...because 5spd will always win that.

actually once NRH rebuilds my tranny there will only be a 10% drivetrain loss. 5 spd maxes have a 15% loss.

How can they prove only a 10% loss? Just out of curiousity.

agreed, sounds like "shop hype" to me

and don't take any offense Corey, I'm just saying...for a shop to call out % drive train loss is kinda hard to pinpoint unless they've done back to back comparative dynos with a stock and modded car I'd guess
