HOpefully getting my problem solved....

Well ,as you all know, I've never Dynoed at what I should, and my vacuum has always been low (like 15-16Hg), even though engine compression and all basic health tests tell me the car is in great running shape....except for a very light shaking at idle.

I've spent alot of time and money re-sealing gaskets, replacing hoses, BOV's, and gauges.

Well, I finally found a local shop that has the SMOKE-IT leak detector. It pumps high pressure smoke into your manifold under pressure. Wherever the smoke comes out is where your leak is...

If anything is going to find it, this will!

Appointment is next week - I'll let everyone know how it goes.

Looks like it is.

Went to the place today. They ran the test and all vacuum lines were completely sealed, the MEVI's top was on right, the Throttle Body and IACV was sealed....

Bit the EGR Pipe gasket was leaking pretty bad.

Itl ooks like I may have found my vacuum leak. I'll be replacing the gasket this Sunday.

I did....

Gasket is replaced....car sounds alot smoother when revving. I can't place it exactly, but it sounds healthier.

I only gained 1Hg of vacuum however....if the gasket was off, it wasn't off by much.

Nonetheless, I'm hitting 10PSI on occassion now and vacuum is reading 17Hg. Which is the minimum for "spec".

And the car FEELS faster. Only the Dyno will tell me if I'm completely right. In addition, we found a missing bolt on my B-Pipe flange to the muffler, causing a nice exhaust leak. Duh. That's why my car sounded like a Civic!

So far, I'm pretty happy with the results. The midrange certainly feels alot more torquey, but the high end I really can't tell for sure.

thanks.

I'll be Dynoing after the Nitrous, Fields AFC, Walbro, and 300zx TT Injectors are installed in about a month.
