running 9psi??

I just bought a super charger from benblanco. it has the 3.33 pulley on it and the fmu hasn't been touched. He has the greddy type s bov and I was wondering if there is any advantage to running the 9psi pulley and bleeding the extra 3lbs boost off. I don't wanna run 9 psi right now, too worried about blowing a head gasket. any help you could give me would be great.

You won't blow a head gasket with 9 psi. You can bleed off boost but not only do you throw away the power you used to generate 9 psi, but your charge air temperature is going to be higher than if you just stayed with the smaller pulley, so you lose twice.

If you're that worried about blowing a head gasket, just lower your shift points. The blower is going to make the 9 psi at redline, so if you shift at 5800 rpm you'll only get to about 7 psi or so.

9psi is still safe.... I was running 11psi everyday when I had mine.

Why would the temp be higher?

Higher blower rpm gets you farther away from the max efficiency island in the compressor map.

I've got 136.2k miles on my car, and I'm running 9 psi, getting ready to put a 3" pulley on it to run 10-11 psi. I do treat the engine with some respect, though, like not boosting to redline on hot days.

9PSI is a joke your fine. What are you going to blow up? here lets see, if you dont hook up the Fuel pump and Vortech FMU you risk the chance of blowing it up. Shadow was on a 3.33 pulley without a fuel pump, functioning properly and didnt blow nothing up. I am @ 10PSI and car still runs fine. Save your money and stay with the inline fuel pump, when you dyno tune and decide to get the MEVI you ll be fine for fuel pressure on the upper RPMs.

If you dont want to run 9PSI shift @ 6200 RPMs, dont bleed the boost thru the BOV, you risk the chance of shutting off the car while your decelerating.

Not if the bov is in front of the maf sensor.

bov

I am wondering if need to route the greddy bov back into the system? Right now it is located in the stock stillen location and i think it blows off into the atmosphere. also is there any adjustments I need to make to the bov. it is a greddy type-s and I am a 5spd, ben said he has really tight because he has an auto, and that when it is tight the sound is much different, do you guys have any info on how I should set this bov up on my car with running 6psi, and then with running 9psi. thanx ( its just that I'm planning on installing my v2 in a week or so and would like to know, also where can I get that metal pulley everbody talks about--is it worth it?)

You will definitely not blow a head gasket with only 9psi. I was running 11+psi on my car daily and I beated on it everyday.. Never blew anything but the tranny Don't bleed the extra boost.. 3psi is a lot. That's about 30hp!
