And another try at a post!

Just got my car back from the shop today! Man what a differance the SC maid and It does runs d*mn good. The shop did a real good job at installing the kit they did a couple little mods to the kit they maid it so it looks like its stock (other than the piping of course), every wire, hose is either running threw conduit or tied up nicely looking stock, Ill take pics when Im done with my little nick or nacks. But I do have some problems to deal with:

1. A V2 is quite compared to a V1, i dont know what a V1 sounds like but quite this thing is not at idle, I like the sound of it other than that. Is this right or do i have a problem here?

2. The pipe that the intake runs threw (A 2001 SC kit has a pipe running from the SC in flow to the drivers side right behind the radiator(and it sucks!) makes my drivers side hood sit up just enough to be able to see its not right. Gotta get this fixed. My body shop man owes me some hood work anyway (I hit a deer not long ago and messed up the hood and right hand head light) and the hood just doesnt look right.

3. I need a new Clutch (one too many burn outs quick shifting for the MT roads , I have a small slippage from 2nd to 3rd. and Im sure im loosing power due to it in all the gear ranges. But will wait. and come out of debt from the SC and install

If anyone has any tips and help I would like to here them!

Well - we measured how far away one could hear my V1 at idle.

1/8th of a mile.

Is yours that loud? If not, then no - don't worry about it.

Although I heard MaxiMan's V2 when he drove up from Oregon 2 weeks ago. It was dead quiet at idle. It's the main inspiration to me swapping for a V2.

I mean - the sound was there, but the engine and exhaust were louder.

Don't know aobut the setup in 2k1's - all piping always runs behind the radiator though - there's nowhere else to run it.

Main tips -
1) Swap out the plastic Idler pulleys on that V2 bracket for metal ones.
2) always keep a stock belt, 14mm hand wrench, and 14mm socket with a 12" extention in your car in case you snap/lose your belt on the side of the road.

1. Are you talking about the whining when idle? The v1 is considerably louder than a v2, so your gonna notice it idle and all. Unless its something other than whining, you don't have anything to worry about.

2. Yeah sounds like body work to me, if you have some pics, might be nice to see exactly where it's hitting to give you a better idea of what needs to be fixed.

3. You might consider picking up an ACT clutch. Also while your in there you might think about getting a fidenza flywheel. Always want to milk out as much hp as ya can.

Oh yeah as ian said about keeping tools on hand, don't forget a 8mm socket and ratchet for the s/c piping clamps. Trust me after some of the things that have happen with ian's car, you religiously keep that stuff with ya.

Good point Sarin.

Hey - are you only checking the SC Forum because you're psyched about us putting the V2 in? Or are you just reasearching for when you buy a 4th/5th Gen?

Either way - Woot!
(I'm so psyched!)

Both , doing my homework to figure out what I want to do. When it becomes time to do this, I need to be 100% sure I know what the heck I'm doing. And yeah, I'm really really psyched about getting the v2 into your car. Can't wait to see what your car was suppose to do when we did all that work on it.

No doubt. if it had actually pushed the 9PSI it was supposed to when I bought it, it would have saved both you and me, and other people like EB and mtrai760 tons of time.....and my money.

I've installed my own SC - I'm sure yours will be no problem when you want to do it.

Anyway, I'm 99% sure linuxr is saying he has a V2.

Yeah a video would be nice, kinda wierd that your getting a louder whine. When I heard maximan's v2, I could barely hear it....with the hood open! It was quite a change from the normal noise I hear from ian's old v1. Also if you can as many pics as possible that'd be great. It would really help me out with my research.

With a V2, as long as it's not a grinding noise, you should be ok. The only loud *bad* noises I've heard from a V2 are when the bearings are going.

I don't have one - don't need one - I've got a V1 bracket - it doesn't have the pulley problems the V2's have.

noise

Well, its been 300 miles and have have been checking and double checking everything. Checked all hoses and lines, belt, pulley's and such. The sound has gotten betther tho, and close inspection of the sound is not the pulley's but the SC's impeller. Im wondering does the V2 need a break in time? if so any thing recomended? Im gonna switch to mobel 1 Full Synthetic? will this help?

Ill get pics and Sounds/video soon. Gotta get a web site setup
