turbo size question

Hey guys I have a question. A guy in Houston(where I live) is trying to sell a T3 60-1 bb turbo off his RX-7. He says it only has 6,500 miles on it. He wants to get a smaller turbo. It has a 82 mm exhaust housing would this be too big for a maxima. He is letting it go at a great price and I was wondering if the was a good size for our cars.

not really "too small"....a T3 60-1 will be plenty fine for most 3.0L motors, not the biggest, but definently not "too small" either. but yes T4 series and hybrids seem to make good power on these cars

I think this turbo is bigger than a TO4E.... It has a 4 inch inlet and 2 and a half outlet. They sell for about 1700 dollars.

It's almost the same size turbo I'm using on mine. It's a hybrid. T3 exhaust side, 60-1 compressor. T3/T4 hybrid.

The 82 mm exhaust side should work out well for a Maxima. What are the A/R? If it's a good price, I'd buy it. But make sure it's really in good shape. A lot can happen in 6500 miles, and BB turbos can't be rebuilt.

That is a decent sized turbo. But we need the A/R readings to make sure it will work great for you or not....

That's what a hybrid turbo is. A T3 exhaust side with a T04 compressor. There is a T3 60-1 and a T4 60-1.

Quick lesson on rebuidling ball bearing turbos:
1. If it is a BB from greddy, etc. they can not be rebuilt. They are "throw aways".
2. If it is a BB from Turbonetics, it CAN be rebuilt.

Rebuilding from Turbonetics for public generally costs:
375$ for non-bb
500$ for turbonetics bb

The problem with the bb HKS/garret, etc that they are basically assembled as one piece.
