Need opinion on 1st gen DSM Eclipse BOV

Does anyone have the 1st gen Eclipse BOV on their max? If you do, how do u like it? My friend just got one in his Acura and it sounds pretty nice. What I like about it, is that its made for low boost applications, sort of like the SC. Thank you.

very nice BOV, have one for my Integra too...can hold 15+ psi with minor modification("crushing")...I think mtcookson is using one on his 3rd gen turbo, plus they are cheap...like $30

yup, i have one for my car as well. i finally got to use it yesterday and it sounds better than i had thought it would. i heard they could candle even more pressure than 15. i thought i read somewhere that with crushing they could candle upwards of 25-30. i'll have to find where i read that.

Yeah those bovs are sweet. This dude in my town runs 18 psi on a crushed 1gen bov, no leaks, and sounds sweet. He could run more but ported 14b isn't efficient enough and stock fuel injectors cause a fuel cut anything after that

the stock 1g bov does NOT need to be crushed to run over 20 psi. who ever told you that is stupid, i ran 24 psi on a ported 14b and a box stock bov and had no leaks what so ever. to get them to do 30+ psi is easy, there is a tech deal on vfaq.com about this. crushing is pointles and ruins a perfectly good part. stock 1g dsm's run between 8-11 psi. the price of this piece is well above 30 dollors. i have seen them go for about 90 regularly, if yu can find someone who doesn't know anything about dsm's in general, get it fromthem

Crushing a 1g BOV isn't "pointless" and doesn't ruin anything. I owned a 1g DSM for 4 years. People have gone high 10's on that "ruined" part you speak of.

The truth:
1g DSM BOV's leak ever so slightly even when stock. Crushing will not stock the leak, it will just prevent it from getting worse until about 22-25psi or so. I bet you $100 everyone who responded to these threads never pressurized their intakes in their DSM to see exactly when it starts to leak like I did.

mine was pressurized to 26 psi, no leaks, from a NONE crushed 1g bov.
if you go to vfaq.com or whatever it is, there is a better way of getting it to hold boost then crushing it.

people have gone faster then 10's on that stock piece. and put down more then 550 whp.

you're not the only one who has owned dsm's before.

Apparently you don't know too much about them though considering you told the kid crushing a 1g BOV will ruin it. People have been doing it for 7+ years with great success. Who are you to say thousands of people are wrong?
