Hypothetical question for e manage users

Ok I dont think anyone has discussed it. As far as the searching I have done. And believe me I have tons of time to search.
Well I was reading up about the e manage unit and it says it has the ability to control ignition timing thru the additional harness for the ignition. Now will this if tuned right eleminate the need for the J&S if running those ungodly amounts of boost I intend to run on the Maxima. Just wondering if anyone has tried to use this or has given it some intelligent thought. Cause if I dont need to by a J&S and spend 500 bucks than im all for it. As ling as this feature in the e manage I plan on using can actually work to retard timing enough to keep from detonating. Any info or intelligent thoughts please

From the sound of your first post, I thought there was a "problem" with the eManage or something...that's all.

OK now everyone jacking my thread. Does anyone have an answer for my question or I guess im gonna have to try it all when I get home. And I already found some good prices for the emamange unit. 495 for Unit computer tool and ignigion and injector connectors. Its kinda funny that Greddy kinda pulled a Bill Gates with the e manage. The base unit is basically worthless unless you buy all the connectors and sensors which is like an addtional 150-200 to actually make it work to its full potential

i have the emanage and the harnesses, but never installed (itll go on the rb26dett tho). Wheter or not we can use the ignition harnesses, I am not sure of, because we have coil packs. The way that the ignition harness works is like this:

Under normal operation the ecu sends a signal to the coil pack telling it to fire when cam angle = x and rpm = y and air flow = z and so on. (I am not sure if nissan uses a frequency based signal or a voltage based signal, tho, and that is what might make it not work)
With emanage in place, the ECU sends a signal to the pack, but the emamange unit is run inline with the signal so it interupts it. By viewing the 16 x 16 ignition map (rpm vs. ? <- i forgot (might be airflow duty)) you can alter the signal by increasing or decreasing it slightly.

The problem comes because since the emanage isnt a stand alone unit (neither is a SFMU godddamnit hahah), it still needs to work with the ecu. Therefore, when adjusting timing you can only really work with 2 paramaters and with what the ECU gives you. That is a potential tuning problem, because really you need to set maps based on like 5 different parameters, hence why a stand alone is better.

BTW: some of you guys should look into AEM EMS, for a stand alone, it really isnt that expensive (1200 bucks) and you use all your factory sensors which is sweet. I know they do not have a plug and play unit for our car, but it doesnt matter. You just buy a harness with leads on it from them and splice them right in to the wires where your ECU is now. You can just buy the cheapest one because the hardware is all the same, the differece is in the program. I have talked to a guy at AEM, and he said it will work with our cars.

ok, im done for now.

Oh yuck could you imagine tracing all those damn wires and comparing them in the FSM to the EMS thas ok ill pass. Maybe ill just get JWT to tune my ECU for some reatradation LOL, and then use the E manage to tune the fuel and injectors and all that other stuff. Hey how is my motor doing. Im looking for a place to have it sent to. I get goosebumps just thinking of putting that thing together.
