those with a vortech charger

i wanna know where you guys put the maf sensor...
thanks

On the 5th gen setup, you really want it on the intake side. I tried it on the charged side and blew the MAF at 10psi. So I moved it to the intake side. I guess that is why Stillen moved it to the intake side on 5th gens.

i have a 4th gen kit on my 5th gen, so i dont have the intake pipe that goes from the charger all the way back to the middle, i just customed a pipe that goes fromthe charger down to the fender... and that is where my maf is located.. i think the location of my maf is causing all the problems to my car.... abot where is the maf located on the intake pipe of the 5th gen chargers??? and how can i but that intake pipe???

nismology 11-22-2003 04:38 PM

The MAF is about a foot up or so from the CAI filter on the non-charged pipe...

a33 11-23-2003 11:39 AM

will the location of the maf on the intake pipe affect the sensor's readings???

BigDogJonx 11-23-2003 11:43 AM

It will only be affected when the BOV realeases air so for a split sec the car will be a bit rich, but if you get the BOV tightened to the right spot, you wont have any issues.

a33 11-23-2003 11:45 AM

****, then i have no idea how to fix this ****... dont know if i should put the sensor back on the pressure side or get the 5th gen intake tube and put it on the intake side...

BigDogJonx 11-23-2003 11:48 AM

ok, why not just scrap the whole intake tube idea and put in a CAI for the s/c? On the end of the CAI right before the air filter, put the MAF there. This will be the ideal setup not to mention that you will get about 1psi more boost cause of the CAI.

you mean go from the charger straight into the fender??? thats what i have now.... but there should be something wrong witht he maf... either position of it or how it is mounted i gotta check

BigDogJonx 11-25-2003 06:34 AM

If your MAF is sitting in the fender, then there shouldnt be any problem. That is how at least half the people with the vortech s/c have it setup.

I have my maf in the fender well, like you. Are you running a recirculation hose from your bov to a point between the maf and the blower inlet? If you don't then, air lost through the bov will make you run rich. This is definitely a problem at idle if your bov is open at idle.

What problems are you having?

And I have wrire-up on the CAI with the location of the maf and everyhting.

Just clicl on my sig.

first of all i have a problem with the swirl control valve and the engine light is on.... and somehow my car is extremely rich and idle and often dies (stalls) and the low end of my car is really slow for some reason i dont know what, and it is not particularly fast at high rpms too... so i am assuming i dont have the maf put in correctlyt and it is not reading properly causin all these problems???
and other suggestions??
