Inexspensive Turbo/Supercharger???

What do you guys think is the cheapest decent turbo for a 1998 Nissan Maxima SE?

I do not want to spend an outrageous amount of money...

Thanks,

Sean

The word Turbo and Cheapest cant go in the same sentence. Shiet..... the work BOOST and Cheap cant go in the same sentence. If you force the two words in the same sentance, then a 3rd will need to be added called BROKE.

Reason for this, to do it right and correctly by monitoring and safely boosting easily can run 4000 if you do it yourself.

Here's your choices (unless you DIY, but that takes a lot of skill and knowledge of turbo systems):

http://maxmods.dyndns.org/?MaximaTurboKits

Keep in mind that parts on your car will be more likely to break when boosted, and that costs money. Also keep in mind that if you want more boost than these systems give, you will probably need a lot more parts... injectors, fuel map unit, fuel pressure regulator, fuel pump, dyno tuning time, gauges.

you can get everything new, you just have to search forever to find the best deals. so far, i've spend around 1600-1700 on my 3rd gen and its complete now... well, i should say it runs. I still have some other things to do like aftercooler and gauges but, the fact remains that I turboed my car for 1600-1700 dollars.

Being a 3rd gen I got off pretty easily since I could swap in the Z31 turbo engine but if you can find all of the right deals and fab stuff up yourself or find someone who will do it for cheap you can keep costs very low.

Ya he is lucky us 4th gens have to do a lot more fabrication to make our kit works that is why it is so expensive. I trying to contact people about making a manifold for us, try to make like 5 or 6 and sell them to other people on the board so they can make a kit for themselves. I try to get them about 600 - 700 dollars. With this manifold, your car would be much better than the kits available. Just look for some good deals. Mine is costing more because I want things like a aluminum radiator, fans, copper gasket, piston rings, and some other stuff maybe a nitrous setup so I can run crazy rich like Hal and not blow anything up.

yeah, i still had a lot of stuff fabbed up but i even got deals on that. i was told it would cost 2500-3000 dollars but I didn't want to spend that much so I searched forever to keep the prices down. I splurged every once in a while but luckily not enough to raise the final cost, lol.
