Why on a Maxima, say it's in neutral or park......if one were to REV the engine, how come the BOV doesnt blow?

It seems like it does it on A LOT of other cars; 300z, WRX/Sti, evo

Is there something different from those or.....is it the engine?


And.....

The BOV blows ONLY when:
a) shifting?
b) when RPMs drop?

(kinda the same, yea.....but it confuses me)

 

Yep - mine blows harder when I rev it in P/N than when I shift at full boost.

your BOV is probably adjusted to tight...

it should definitely blow off when you rev it...

 

Well, I was aiming toward the turbo - SCers I always hear

 

its definitely a spool issue. the evo and the sti both have a quick spooling turbo.

 

and the PFI and t3/t4 dont have quick spool?

 

Not as quick as OEM turbos. They are probably using t25 or similar sized turbos not much bigger than a fist
