Question about turbo....
Hey guys, I'm actually hunting for a T3/T4B for my 2k1 max, this morning I was checking on e-bay if I can pick up a good deal, I oftenly see that some Turbo can be cooled by oil or water,( we have to specify ) what do you guys think would be the best for my max ? I'm looking to get in the 5-8 lbs of boost with an intercooler.
Also is there any Turbo brand that should be avoided because of poor quality, service etc.
Thank you for helping.
What do you think of this unit ? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2452173637
Thank you for helping me make this come thrue.
Cheers to all.

as far as staying away from brands I keep hearing mixed reviews on Turbonetics...none personally but on Honda Tech a few times.
water cooling is a plus, but not necessary. most people end up plugging the water in/outlets on the turbo anyways.
the turbo in the auction is okay...I'd look for somehting at least with a .60/.63(ie 57 trim and up)

Addae is right, .48ar on the turbine side is kinda low. I mean you will probably gain boost off idle but if you ever plan on going above 8 it is going to peak out very quick and cause backpressure issues.
Do at least a .60ar on the turbine side and you can probably get to full boost by 2500rpm (as i do).
Not to mention thats an internal wastegate turbo, you dont want that.

from an authorised Turbonetics dealer. I got their price list and the T3/T4B with ceramic ball bearing is around 1500$ and the non CBB is 850$.
BTW what the ar stand for ( .60ar )

There are different kind of To4B's. Really small and really big. Some guy in houston just made 700 hp with a To4B. To4E is a good size, believe me you don't want to step on the pedal and have your car torque steer somewhere you don't want it too. Expect to pay 3-5 grand on a turbo setup.

A straight T04E turbo has more lag yeah thats why you get the T3 turbine with the T04 compressor, your spool up will be fine
