7th Injector?

I was looking at TRD's website (I was bored, so sue me lol), and came across a part for their 3.4L V6's with the supercharger kit already on them called the "7th Injector Kit." (here) Reads:

"Supplemental (7th) injector adds additional fuel directly into the inlet of the supercharger providing an intercooling effect for increased power and torque."

Now I have no idea how that would even work...any of you boosted guys (especially SC guys) ever heard of anything like this? How does it work? Almost seems like the effect you have using nitrous on an intercooler...

It especially intrigues me because it takes .4 off the 1/4 mile time of the test car this one company used for a comparison (here).

Alot of honda aftermarket manifold have a plcae to add another fuel rail. So there is 4 more injectors and all the way up to 6 more I think. I am not sure how you would do that on a maxima.

Hmmm...interesting. I just thought I'd share this because the boosted guys always seem to be looking for ways to make more power

you can add additional injector to the intake manifold or before the throttle body. My dyno guy suggested this to me when my car was running lean with 10lb of boost. This methods requires a lot of dyno tunning and it is hard to control that all the cylinders get equal amount of fuel.

go with larger injectors - it is simple and less hassle than adding that addtional injector.

Yeah...I would guess that amongst that jumble of stuff that comes with the 7th injector kit, something in there is electronic that might control all of that? I dunno...but thanks for the info, nonetheless.

It's similar to a wet nitrous kit. Just more fuel. An e manage can control an additional injector if you get the injector harness and support tool.

It's something I'm exploring right now. Got 2 spare 370cc injectors, making a custom intake manifold, so we'll see.

Some Honda turbo kits come with an additional injector. It's cheaper than replacing all the injectors and to some people, it's a better option than higher fuel pressures. Also, with significantly larger injectors, sometimes there are idling issues. That's why some Hondas run 2 sets of injectors. 4 primaries, and 4 secondaries. On a Maxima it's kind of a moot point since 550's apparently can idle just fine, and I don't think many of us will exceed the power levels that 550's can support. I'm only exploring the additional injectors because I already have 370's, the emanage, and 2 spare injectors. It's a much cheaper option than buying new 550's.

i think a lot of guys use to do this when they were boosting this was before a lot of the piggy back fuel controllers were made. i use to see my friends brother s adding extra injectors on their cars when i was in 7th-8th grade.

if you guys look on mattel's car up closer to the tb there are two nubs sticking out of the piping. two spots for extra injectors.
