Cartech FMU or Walbro?

I'm budgeting for one upgrade this year and so I was wondering which one should I go for or do I need both? Also, would the S-APC be necessary at this point? IIRC the Cartech allows for tuning and the Walbro increases the fuel pressure. Now that our posting history is only 5 pages I wasn't able to browse back to see what everyone has said.

if your inline pump is still good, why bother to spend extra on the walbro?

I would spend on the cartech and try to tune the car by adjusting fuel pressure and save some money for a nice fuel pressure gauge.

if you dynoed your car and you are running a bit rich with your current FMU, I would just get a needle bleeder valve that attaches to the FMU for $25 from vortech. u can lower your fuel pressure with that to lean our your AFR a bit. This is cheaper method compared to adjustable FMU if u planned to stay with your current pulley for a while.

I did a search at the Vortech site and there's no match to needle bleeder valve.
Did you mean the optimizer?

I have a Autometer fuel gauge already but I haven't had time to hook it up.
I've got the 3.125" pulley with the FMU calibration kit waiting to go in.

Hmm don't you already have a Vortech fmu? If you go with a Walbro pump, you will have to buy a new fuel pressure regulator to lower your base fuel like maxi said.

So I should stick with the Vortech FMU, tack on the Cartech and I'm good to go? Then I don't need the S-AFC?

So what's the purpose of the Walbro? A while ago everyone was picking one up but I never read why and the FYI don't have enough info on it.

What are trying to accomplish? I believe you have the stock pulley, stock pump and the Stillen boost a pump correct? I "think" you want to get rid of the boost a pump and install a walbro?

I don't think you need two boost referenced fuel pressure risers? Are you going to a smaller pulley? Trying to simplify your fuel system?

If you are looking for a different fuel ratio, just use a different disc in the Vortech?

Hey Jeff, I'm running the 3.33" at the moment and everything else is stock, ie. stock Vortech FMU. I just want to be able to tune it and get as much power out of it with what I have without breaking the bank. Eventually I'll put in the 3.125" and disc later this year.

Jeff - the needle bleeder valve will trim the peak fuel pressure. it tricks the FMU by reducing the boost that goes into the FMU. It wont do anything to the base fuel pressure.

Dan: here is the linke to the bleeder valve. Mardigras use this to tune his 370cc with a 4:1 FMU.

http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...Code=6Z120-010

if the linke doesnt work....go to vortech's site and do a product search and type in "bleed"
part no. 6z120-010.
