Turbo question...

Well i haven't really bin interested in a turbo untill now so that's y i don't know that much and i haven't really bin interested in learning anything about it( i was all about all motor), but im rebuilding my motor this summer, im going with a stage 3 port and polish, im taking most of my motor to a machine shop so they can work with the crankshaft, the rods and stuff like that, im getting the stage 2 turbo system from custommaxima.com and i might modify it a little, but what i was woundering is what are something i should do just so i would have a less chance in blowing my motor with some high boost?????

"EDIT"--Also getting some new pistons with some 8.7 compression...
let me know what u guys think?

please don't do that...I'm speaking from first person observations I made on a certain car running the "CM kit". go with a PFI kit or contact SSR for their upcoming kit.

yea i just saw that, i guess the kit should be out by this summer, CM offered me a kit for 3800 for the stage 2.....but i will probably go with the SSR's kit, but i neeed to know what could i do to my motor to make it stand up to the turbo. I want to be running high boosts, 10 to 15 but possibly more.

first off do your research in this forum...theres plenty info on what people have done to prepare their blocks for big boost...low CR, JDM VQ30DET pistons being one of the methods. other than that engine management, fuel supply...search this forum, you'll find all the answers you need

Spend the money for a good fuel system, that has got to be the most important part. also, have a spare block sitting around, running that kind of boost depends more on your driving/abuse levels than anything.

Don't spend 1000+ on a port on polish. Spend that money on connecting rods. I have looked at the heads and they are pretty good. They could be opened, port matched, and get rid of the couple of humps in there. You coudl probalyl do that with a die grinder.

Try to get ahold of Tiley on turbomaxima.com, he's got a VQ30DET block somewhere. he may know where to get some stuff imported.
