Thinking of turbocharging 01' SE (Help with questions)

Alright...I have an Auto 01' SE (as pictured in the sig). I want to turbocharge the car and bring it up to around 300HP. I want to purchase a large turbo, something that kicks in at the later RPM stages. I know that an intercooler is an absolute must to keep everything steady and cool (no pun intended :P). But I also want to go beyond that, and be 120% sure that the tranny doesn't blow on me.

I'm a newb when it comes down to car talk, so go easy on me. What do you guys suggest I do? What PSI should I consider setting to, so I can be safe? What additional mods should I add, aside from a nice intercooler, to make sure there is as little engine strain as possible?

Well coming from being an 01 SE auto that was turbo charged I can answer your questions.

At 5-6psi you will be fine, but you will need a Valvebody modification which will flow more oil in the VB to shift a bit harder and crisper. Without it, you will fry the tranny in a few weeks.

Piping is going to be an issue in that the Auto sits lower because of the oilpan, so your piping is going ot be lower a good bit. So expect about a 2-2.5" ground clearance.

Now regardless of what people believe/think, your tranny is not going to last. The nissan tranny is not built in any shape or form to handle that kind of power, so either expect to save up on the side for an auto tranny beef up, or do a 5spd conversion (like I did.).

Damn. How long can I expect to have the trans. last, aproximately?

Are there any other mods I can look into that don't have much potential to damage my car?

How long is a question I cant answer. People always ask these types of question but I cannot say for a fact because I dont know how you drive. IF you drive the car like its a rental car or do you baby it. Too many variables play a part in that.

I know a few that have drive it like a madman and it lasted about 6months.

Not sure what you mean by other mods? You mean other mods like a supercharger? Doesnt really matter because you still have an auto.

No, no. Mods besides a supercharger and turbocharger that'll give me a decent boost in power (30-40HP or so). Basically, what other mods are there that can increase the power of the car without overworking the tranny?

And as far as my driving habits...I drive normally on main roads. But I have a bit of a tendency to floor the pedal when I'm on an empty highway late night.

I guess I could look into a new intake, as well as the Y pipe, right?

I suppose since I'm probably not going to turbocharge the car, this should perhaps be moved to the 5th gen forum now.
