i went to a local Z bone yard and got a Z32 MAF and it has 5 pins (a-e). then i went to another yard looking for some supra parts for my friends MKIII and i saw a j30 and it still had the MAF in the engine bay but it had 4 pins (b-e) whats the difference? do i have the right one?

 

The Z32 maf should have 6 pins, not 5.

The J30 and the Z32 maf both have the same sensor, just different harness connectors. The Z32 connector has two extra unused pins. Sometimes you can save money if the junkyard dealer doesn't realize that the J30 maf is the same as the Z32.
