How many miles is to many to put on a supercharger? and other Noobie ?'s

I've never messed with superchargers/turbos, and would love to get one, but I have ALOT of ?'s

First I'll list my current mods; Injen Intake, Budget Y, Stock cat, Custom Cat-back, ACT stage 1 clutch, B&M sts, Eibach pros, Cattman FSTB & RSB. I'll probably also get a MEVI when/if I get the Supercharger.

My 97 Max, a 5spd, has 90,000 miles on her now. I just put on most of that stuff, including the clutch. I realize that I'll probably have to go to a stage 2 or stage 3 clutch eventually, but the following are just a few of my ?'s

I really want to put on a V2 supercharger, but I don't know if 90,000 is to many miles to do that.

If it isn't to many miles, are there certain things I need to watch out for when I do buy one?

Also would I have to do anything with the fuel system?

My final ? for now is, on AVERAGE, what are 1/4 mile times should I expect?

Thanks,

Desperately wanting to do this (Steve)

Just just asked about every newbie question in one hit didnt you?

90k aint bad as long as the engine is in good condition, you can start by doing a compression test to ensure the compression rings are doing good. A leakdown test would be better but alot of people dont have access to that type of tool. Compression test gauge is about $20-30 at autostores.

Anything to watch out on? Just keep it tuned to a good air/fuel ratio and you will be fine.

Fuel system? Well obviously if you add air you going to need more fuel. Most SC kits come with a rising rate fuel management unit. If you get that you will be find to about 9-10psi. Then you are going to seriously want to consider larger injectors.

1/4 times? depends on what psi/pulley you put on the s/c.

Excellent, thanks alot. By the way, love your MAX. I'll probably go with 9 psi of boost & then possibly go with the bigger injectors.

What should I expect for 1/4 mile times with 9 pounds of boost? with injectors??

Thanks again for answering my ?'s.

with 9 lbs of boost, I would proabbly say mid to low 13s on street tires... with just added injectors... mid to low 13s as well
now if you have the injectors, and add MORE boost, low 13s to high 12s are possible... and if you are looking for a kit that has everything you'll want for 12s, then check out my thread

Question:

On the stock pulley (3.6 i think, producing 7 psi)

What kind of quarter can I expect.

P.S. I have a 98 5 speed SC with stock pulley, but i have not taken it to the track yet.

I hope high 13's? (13.7 - 13.9 is that possible on street tires?)

they have turbo's for 2k2's and SC's for 2k1's. Only difference in engine bay between 2k1 and 2k2 is a bigger engine right? the SC should still fit right?
