Any idea what the Cobra had? 305bhp?

He definitely got the jump, but you guys pulled/passed him pretty quick.

Any mods on the 2K2 and is it an auto?

I dont know that guy that well. Evan the 2k2 owner knew him and the guys in the Ferrari. Evan popped his hood, he just had a intake and thats about it. He did have a bottle but its a dry shot. He cant hook that up. I told him to go get the wet solinoids so he can come out and play with us. That would make him very fast. I seen what a 3.5L VQ and a 75 wet shot does to a SCed maxima.

Jay forgive my ignorance, but does the turbo make gear changes that short or are you taking it easy and short-shifting?

It seems like you're shifting everytime you get some steam. Do you have a JWT ECU w/higher rev-limiter?

None of us have a JW ECU. I shift at 6500RPMs. I do watch what gear I shift into so I dont tear up my tranny. Once you get going you get to 65-66K ver fast, your reving up so fast that I have to shift into the next gear.

All I know about the cobra was intake/exhaust. Seemed to be more than that to me...

He was even with me most of the way.

And the 2k2 is an auto

I'd say that Cobra has at LEAST 310 or so HP. And remember...it was stock!

I was thinking N20 from the jump and "pop" against Jay and the 2K2, but probably just good ole domestic V8 torque.

Where's Craig Mack when you need him...

I think stock they had 305bhp, but I'd say whatever mods he has puts him in the 325whp range to keep up with Jay@350whp.

I'd say bags and the Rustang tore the 2K2 a new one.

Jay/Bags were pretty damn good races for the Rustang. Not much difference HP wise.

It looks like a 96-98 Cobra so it probably puts down around 260Rwhp
also depends if he had a chip or not. Also the 4.6 Cobra's love rpms so
it revs higher than the 5.0's and if it was stock he probably had a 3.27 gear
which is a highway gear which would help him out. But definatly a good kill.

lets meet up this thursday to do side by side turbo spool up comparisons on a car like yours that has torque. Go to the SE section. Youll see what I am talking about. No passengers, I have a tripod and can rig up a camera etc..

96-98 Cobras dyno around 260rwhp stock on average. A GOOD intake (densecharger, WMS, Anderson) would yeild another 6-12rwhp. Exhaust, it all depends on which components he has. An offroad x/h pipe will give him 8-14rwhp, and a catback ~6rwhp. His car didn't seem that loud though, didn't seem like he had any exhaust work.

The 3.27 stock gears SUCK, at any speed. What MPH did you guys run from? With my 4.10's, I usually just bounce off the revv limiter @70+mph in 3rd, the sweet spot is 60-65mph in 3rd gear. Pulls like lightning.

Judging by how quiet the Cobra was, i'd say he had an intake, maybe a midpipe, and gears. He could very well also have a timing adjuster, chip, or pullies though. If you see him again, ask him what hes running.

I'm adding an Anderson Powerpipe/K&N and Steeda T/A (+4 degrees) on my snake, and hope to dyno somewhere around 290rwhp. Unfortunately I will lose a bit of HP from my gears, but they more than make up for it.

For the amount of power some of you minimas are running, i'm impressed with how that Cobra did. I'm really curious as to his mods, it's more than likely a low 13 second ride.

I'll run that rustang ANYDAY you want craig.

I only make 270 WHP

And he has FULL bolts ons. Intake and complete exhaust from what I know now.

We started @ ~45 mph and it's not that quiet, we're that loud. Also, he had a good flame/backfire shooting out of the exhaust.

And I am upping the boost and putting in a SAFC and my MEVI back on.

So again, anytime you wanna try my minima, it's here

That dude was not the average Joe. Hes a mechanic and knows alot about boost. He said if we ever had any problems he could help us fix any issues we had. Cool dude, I did not ask him what he had. We try to run a Z06 but he did not want to run. On our way back Evan the 2k2 owner said this guy wanted to go run for the heck of it. Thats how it all got started.

The snake would have gotten OWNED by those georgia roads many times, on a daily basis if I ended up driving it up there. Best I didn't.

I am still waiting for Craigy to run my poor lil NA Maxima.

But he is afraid, seeing as how I have already beaten a NA '99 Cobra Convertible.

You never told me of this? Besides, the '99 Cobras had the recall problems and some barely broke 240rwhp. If he is pre-fix along with the vert then there is nothign to be proud of.

I piddle on 214ci of naturally aspirated displacement.

I'm still waiting on your answer for me...

and how do you like your kumho MX's? I am thinking about going to those next, if I don't get DR.

I am all talk and no walk. I enjoy rambling on about my Cobra, albeit it actually being damn quick, without actually backing it up with a race.

They hook well. They are a step below drag radials. They have decent treadwear and good traction. My setup is 265/35/18 Kumho Ecsta Supra 712's up front (****, but cheap and wear well) and 295/35/18 Kumho Ecsta MX's in the rear, which were damn expensive. This setup blows my stock setup away in the handling department. (and I had $1050 Michelin Pilot Sport 245/45/17's on there when I bought the car, which are damn good tires). Straight line traction is good for the mods I have, and I love the tread pattern.

For the street, I would definately recommend these over DR's, simply for the treadlife. They are a nice street tire; although my car is a deathtrap in the rain, but thats moreso related at the size of my rear tires, and the fact that its a mustang.
