I would vote Supercharger for a daily driver.
Turbo for the Max is still more expensive, because you basically have to custom do a lot of the stuff.
that is my vote.

It was the SC I didn't like. But it just doesn't make that much power. Nothing in the low rpms since it's rpm dependent. You don't hit full boost until redline. So the car never really feels that fast. And mine was not reliable, I had my SC for 15 months, and it broke 2 belts and melted the pulleys.

The person who bought my SC made 278 whp and ~240 ft/lbs torque. That was with the same 3.33 pulley and ~8.5 psi that I had. This is on an auto maxima as is mine, so mine should have been putting down similar numbers (I never dynoed the SC). Those are good numbers. But my new turbo setup is putting out 300.9 whp and 312.4 ft/lbs at only 7 psi. And I have full boost from 3500rpm on. The car simply feels better.

how hard it was to custom make your turbo car how much $$ you spend? thinking about going turbo but the kits are way to xpensive i found a place that can make the turbo manifold a lots of other stuff but can't decide yet

Daily Driver for Commuting = Fast Car + Reliable Fast car = Super Charger
Custom Work + More time getting it perfectly Tuned = Fast Fast Car = Turbo

thanks you guys. but i now cannot get the quaife lsd, and it was the only diff i'd consider because of its all-gear/no pressure plate/clutch design.

I think it's probably Mardi. He did over 400 on the spray, but it was a pretty small shot. So his dyno without the spray should have been pretty crazy. Or I30krab. He hit 400whp at 5900 rpm with spray.

BTW, Hal's dyno numbers were done with spray. So it's not a good comparison. Ramius83 has done 393 whp on his turbo without nitrous.

nigel has done 420 or something on his pfi turbo kit w/o spraying....i think....but hlh's spray was very small from what I hear too....anyway...what is the highest dynoed supercharger #'s on the boards here...???? anyone know?

basically debating whether or not the double price of a turbo kit for its extra power over a supercharger is worth it....

Well, if you look in the Dyno Forum Turbo97SE has the highest Dyno with a turbo and without spray.
372.10 hp - 369.20 tq - 1997 SE manual

But then again, everyone knows the Dyno Forum has been locked up forever and is not at all accurate.

Anyway - sounds like Ramius83 is the winner for the non-spray crowd.

If I started all over - I'd probably do Turbo at this point in time. But I'm already well invested into the SC and don't have time, now that I'm married, to be going about swapping everything out anyway.

I think his screen name is Max1man or something. He's up in the northwest, I think Iansw helped with his install.

so in other words, on a 5spd 4th gen (my car), it would almost impossible to hit 350@wheels with a SC setup?

Without nitrous, it would be hard, but not impossible. It just requires a lot of mods because you can only get the SC to spin so fast before you overspin it.

I thought Nigel hit 429whp with the 60-1 upgrade @12.5psi.Correct me if I'm wrong. theres a few guys on the board who hit 400+whp without spray, Nigel,Ramius,Deac and more on the way. But if you're looking for all out power turbo is the way to go.

Yeah, Mardi was around 400hp but his was way into "custom" for example. his 02 i believe nissan pathfinder throttle body...and he had a V1 s/c kit..but he also holds the fastest time for maximas at 11.9 and some change.

Just my $.02

So 300whp with the SC is pretty likely?
What psi would be needed to acheive that?
If so that would be good enough for me.
300 whp from a 4 door family car is impressive.
