pulley problem and questions

pulley with the red center and side walls goes on the tensioner and the black pulley goes onto the bracket, right?

the belt keeps slipping off the black pulley next to the alternator when ever the car starts... it looks like the black pulley is not aligned up to the alternator pulley and looks likes its aligned with the pulley on the supercharger, and the alt is lined up the a/c pulley and the bracket is screwed into the tensioner hole... am i missing anything???

No your not missing anything on the smooth pulley. What you have in your hands is an alignment problem. Did you install all the top bolts? Did you install the two yellow stand off bolts that align the plate? Look at the belt alignment from under the car and on top of the car.

Maybe the belt is too tight? I overtightened my belt and burned up the pulley with the red center (Belt tensioner pulley). The extra tension caused the belt to slip off the pulley, and because of the lips it resulted in friction, and them BOOM....

The Blue circle are the bolts attached bracket to engine and the green circle are the bolts attached bracket to supercharger , that i have installed. what are these the two yellow stand off bolts that align the plate, bought kit used and I never saw these two bolts, they are #16 & #18 on the picture right. So it looks like missing these two bolt is my problem. how do they align the supercharge bracket???

On my V1 kit, I use the oem tensioner pulley (which has no sidewalls), and the idler pulley by the alternator has sidewalls. Have had absolutely no belt problems in one and a half years of operation.

I installed Kenneth's V1 kit. His came with a new idler pulley from Stillen that had no sidewalls (from a V2 kit I'm guessing), and the belt jumped off the alternator pulley a couple of times. Problems went away after we replaced the idler pulley with one that had sidewalls.

I had almost the exact same problem. It's imperative that bolts 7, 9, 16, and 14 be installed and tightened. I noticed that if bolt 14 is not completely tight the tension on the belt will deflect the mounting plate and throw the alignment off. I would install bolt 2 If you can, it's easy to get to and stuff, no reason not to. Also make sure bolt 17 is in and tight into the alternator, or the alternator could be misaligned. 16 and 18 are the stand off bolts. You should have those in if you are having alignment issues.

Here's what mine looked like. Does yours have the same problem?

You should get bolt #16. You don't need bolt #18.

When you twist the belt with your fingers no more than 90 degrees to the perpendicular then you will know that the belt tension is correct.
