turbo question.....

Okay guys...I want to T/C my car and it's auto right now. I'll be doing the 5spd swap when I get all the parts I need together. My question is..Do you really need to run both exhaust banks(sides) together to the turbo? Can I just go with the front bank and leave the rear as is and just connect it up with the downpipe from the front? I want to use the VQ30DET exhaust manifold but the rear bank connects to the front by going over the tranny. I was looking at my car and I would need to relocated alot of stuff and possibly need to heat insulate alot to use it.

Thanks for the help guys in advance!!!

Eric

your car gonna be super slow. Turbo spins off of exhaust fumes and if only 3 cylinders worth of fumes are pushing the turbo fan....its not gonna be worth it....unless u go for a super duper small turbo which is gonna be wack anyway....

you will not have a smooth spool, it will be erratic and choppy. theres not much that you wouldnt have to relocate even if you didnt use the rear bank anyways. the main place to mount the turbo is in the battery area as it is so unless you plan on mounting the turbo near the radiator like hal you arent really saving any effort by trying to only use the front bank. that, and the performance will be half-assed. there isnt any advantage to using the vq30det manifolds anyways, its easier and just as effective to just use the stock manifolds and get creative with the routing of the pipes. im routing my rear bank over the trans but my setup isnt normal by any means - most people route it under the trans and up. i dont suggest using one bank but to answer the question simply, it will work, just not very good.
